I have to say that this:

7. Power-Sliding Doors

Parents, rest assured the power-sliding doors on upscale minivans employ all sorts of electronic cutoffs to ensure they won't eat your Brownie troop. But we'll admit the prospect of power doors that can do their thing by remote 20 or 30 feet away can be a bit, um, dicey. They can also add hundreds of dollars to a car's out-the-door sticker. If you're feeling the pinch, go with manual sliders and open 'em yourself.

was worth EVERY PENNY that it cost.

I heart my minivan :swoon:

However, those 'electronic cutoffs' are, um, not so sensitive in the Town & Country.

I like the Britsh GPS...makes me feel continental. The American one can't pronounce Lahser...then again, neither can most people so I shouldn't be too annoyed, right?

But. How else will marketing departments justify their existence?

I was just happy to have TWO sliding doors with the two babies (Though I didn't have twins, I had all 4 of my kids in 5 years and 19 days span, so I was managing two baby carriers a lot). I had a 2002 Chevy Venture LS with the dual sliding doors.

Now that the kids are older two are out of carseats and two are in boosters, it's not so bad to be back to a minivan with only ONE sliding door. We have a 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette with only one sliding door.

LoL ... I still prefer my little Mazda, granted it's a 5 seater, so all the kids and me take up everything, but it works. I drove a 1997 Dodge Neon 4 door for a few years when the girls were babies, before the boys were born. That wasn't too bad.

I don't really see a need for power sliding doors. To me, that just seems like something begging to poor cash into if it breaks.

Power sliding doors are a really nice feature when you have younger children. They are, however, a potential maintenance nightmare. Sliding doors are prone to wearing out fast and adding electrical motors to that.... um..yeah.

beeping noises. ford has three seperate beeping noises wired to three different fuse systems. if you pull the fuse on one no wipers, the other no lights, the third no elctrical to the interrior.

so beeping noises on any vehicle make me punch that vehicle.

Two sliding doors IS a beautiful thing...

Usually, I'm holing two babies and their bag o' stuff, so it's nice not to have to fiddle with the handle. And the T & C has three buttons on the ceiling, one for each door and one for the trunk...I pop all three when I'm taking the girls out in their stroller and I feel so Star Trek, with all my doors sliding open like that. FUN!

But the nice thing is, now that they are out of those carriers and into regular car seats, they can fit in Guy's Focus, too!! YEAH!!!

Although, it's funny, the other day Guy had to drop them off at the daycare...it can be a little dicey. You have to take one out of the carseat, and then, while holding that one, get the other one out of the carseat. It's not terribly difficult or anything it's just, well, like I said, dicey. So, Guy had to do that the other day and he called me at work all pissy and was like 'It's IMPOSSIBLE to get them both out of the car seat at the same time!' and I was like 'That thing I do ALL THE TIME? That's not possible?'

'yes'

'It's impossible?'

'yes'

Pause on my end...'I don't think you know what that word means'

Boys are funny...

i passed my bedroom window one day when the nieghbour across the road brought home a Chrystler Voyager minivan with remote sliding doors. so as any new gadget and a male goes he uses it. door closes, then pops itself open.

nieghbour stops, turns round, hits the keyfob again. same thing, so he steps closer and presses it (Yeah lik thats gonna work!)...

cut a long story short, i had to move away from the window as i was now in a giggling fit as he was standing at the door, hitting the damn keyfob repetatively with no avail.

and i like my air con glovebox. keeps my harribo from beiong one bag of sugary beeswax goop. but bad for stashing dried apricots in there on a cold day...
