jynxxxedangel Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Check out this website, it gives the simplest explanation of this mathematical phenomenon-- as well as links to more in-depth websites: Golden Ratio Who says math can't be interesting? I must admit, I'm a bit of a math noob. Math class was a source of dread (and nap time) for me, during my school days. Had any of my teachers taken the time to study concepts such as this, they might have actually reached the darkest corners of my corrupted little mind..
Msterbeau Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Related to the Golden Proportion which also makes for some interesting reading.
sass_in_the_pants Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Unrelated to the Golden Shower, though, right?
Msterbeau Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Unrelated to the Golden Shower, though, right? Unless you somehow pee 1:1.618 toilet/person.
phee Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Golden Wall in Ypsilanti makes some pretty good General Tsaos
Homicidalheathen Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 not again...my man be a math geek, took him years to figure out why i had pine trees seashells...ect...spirals on my altar (he needs scientific proof of a spirals importance and power) well he found it in this and now i have spirals ALL OVER MY HOME
n0Mad Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Also related to the Fibonacci number sequence. Not as good as Fibonachos though. I ate one of those once and I wasn't sure if I liked them or not so I ate another one. I decided it was pretty good so I ate two. By now I was pretty hooked so I ate three. I was pretty hungry so next I ate five. Next thing I know I'm gorging myself on eight. Those damn things are addictive and I started stuffing 13 in my mouth followed by 21. Fortunately for me we ran out because I don't think I could've handled 34.
n0Mad Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I like the Morris "See and Say" Number Sequence: 1 11 21 1211 111221 312211 13112221 1113213211 31131211131221 13211311123113112211 ...
torn asunder Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 wasnt this mentioned in the movie PI. not only mentioned, but the golden ratio and the golden spiral are two of the major points of the movie... best. movie. ever.

Msterbeau Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 There was a program about it maybe four or five years ago on either the History Channel or the Discovery Channel.
