One rough month

Wow, its been one thing after another this month so far. And I can't wait until income tax season comes around so I can take advantage of the tax break the government approved for all first time home buyers in the year of 2008.

*begin rant*

I was unemployed for a month and when I did get my job, it took 3 weeks before I saw a paycheck and it wasn't worth looking at. So I would say it was 8 weeks without a real paycheck except for the $500 I got for unemployment for 2 weeks. Still owe money on the last month of rent at the Ypsilanti apartment and bought this house while unemployed. I stayed the course because with driving you can get a job any time; its just a matter of how much you want to keep making. Been overdrafting my checking account multiple times because my paycheck has come in unexpected (long story) so I finally closed it out with National City as this could be a karma issue. Opened up with another bank so I could change the energy of the situation.

Find out that my license has been basically suspended twice this month from the state of Indiana on 2 different instances out of my control. First was back in April in which I was pulled in for an inspection at a scale house and they found a brake was not functioning. I can only inspect the equipment, not see it tested, so it was simply a mechanical failure. Boss's mechanic came and fixed it and took the ticket so the boss could pay it. He never did after I asked a few different times if it had been paid and he said it was taken care of. It was a $126 ticket, which is not a big deal for a company, except this one. Got the letter from Indiana saying it was going to be suspended so I took care of it.

2 weeks later I get a letter from Michigan saying my license is suspended for a speeding ticket I got back in July that I paid $400 to a lawyer to get it reduced to a nonmoving violation. Went back and forth over time to see it was done and got the runaround. Come to find out when I called the courts, that is was paid, BUT not until Oct 22nd, just over a week after the suspension went into effect. Got with the courts and Secretary of State and had it reinstated today before I head to Laredo again tomorrow. Fighting with the lawyer to get them to talk to the courts and get it fixed since it was the lawyers fault. They ended up only paying the ticket (which I could have done myself) instead of getting the 10 over ticket reduced. So now in one month I have a 10 over speeding ticket and 2 suspensions on my license.

I am finally closer to paying off the bills and being caught up. Just started my first home improvement project of ripping up the old shag carpeting in the foyer and putting in nice stone tile. That has been the only bright spot of this month lol. Yes, its been a rough month.

*end rant*

When is the painting/beer party LOL.... just kidding with you.

I know its tough, but don't worry. Shit always seems to work it's self out somehow, you know :happy::grouphug:happy:

Well, I definitely want to do it sometime before I buy carpet for the place. Looking at a huge chunk of money once income taxes come back between that $7500 tax credit for first time homebuyers, and my usual money from driving over the road. There is 2100 sq ft of home to be painted, so I will have to play it by ear for now. I would like to have one of those parties as it was suggested by a couple of other people. Once improvements start happening, I think that will change things around for me mentally.

So what your saying is one day I will be able to paint your living room, and bring you newcastle? Sweet . :happy:

Sorry man. :-(

Sounds like you and my ex had the same kinda month. Part of me is not looking forward to coming home and reality.

Yeah, it sucks when it all crashes in so soon. But another new bright side is that I finally got a new run since the other one was getting me home so late. This new one SHOULD allow me to arrive on saturday morning instead of saturday night or Sunday late morning. Plus its a little more money and I head up to Flint to the GM plant. Just hope that the auto plant up there survives in the future. Going to have to find a place near where I live to park the truck now instead of Ann Arbor.

When ripping up carpet is the BEST part of your month, yeah, it's a pretty shitty month.

Yeah, unfortunately it was the highlite of the month. I even spent Halloween evening in Tennessee sleeping in my semi as I was on my way back north to home. I am thinking next year should be better as I will have much more done and more money to have fun with.

*hugs*

It'll get better.

Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't quite understand at the time.

Hang in there--

Hey Jeff, sorry to hear things have been so tough on you recently. I hope everything starts looking up for you once again. Life is a cycle so you're bound to get the good stuff coming your way soon :yes

Thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs all the way from the UK xxx

Well, still no money from the damn former boss nor the lawyers. Beginning to think there are more screwed up businesses run out of hell than first thought and I keep running into them.

Dude, '08 has been the WORST.

I second the 08 being the worst, but I've gotta say, some of '08 has been the best.. *sighs* So for the extremes, '08 has it!!!

Hang in there Reaper.. you'll have to give me a tour of your new digs when you get some time. :)

This past few months have been very trying on me as well, but I'm still alive, and so are the ones I love (except my kittah), we can only look forward to the good now that we've had some bad. :)

I can at least say that '08 was awesome for the fact that Jeff and I got married on March 15. But losing Jeff's grandmother, Aunt, and my Dad and an Aunt has just ruined me...

I have had worse years. 2002...definitely the worst of years for me.

Reaper, all I have to say is hang on, and look for every opportunity to force success.

Well I am just looking forward to 2009 now that I have this new job and am home every weekend vs that last tanker job which I was working upwards of 18 hours a day almost 7 days a week. Then I have been having fun with this home improvement thing so I get to spend my future money on something worth spending. And to think of the parties I could have hehe.

      About to head up to Roseville to return this rental and pick up my truck from the auto shop.  It is supposedly sporting a newly fabricated frame rail...I don't think they are referred to as "chassis" anymore as I see the confusion in shop owner's eyes when they ask me if I'm looking for "body work?".   But I do find it interesting that I told the owner that I worked direct with OEM parts and yet he still wrote me up an invoice with overpriced OEM parts from companies I used to host at the place I used to work for.  With that said, I'm expecting a stellar job for the amount I paid.   ...else, there will be some talk negotiations.

      ~~~~~ Definitely wishing you luck.  Do enjoy yourselves.   But I have to admit, the first thing that came to mind was does roadside assistance reach the desert? 😬
      ~~~~~ Yeah, it's like something happened to my metabolism this past Winter and when I came out of hibernation, that AARP Join Request started looking like something to check into.

      This 👆 definitely goes with what I said in my other post - getting old sucks. Seems like *everything* takes longer and takes more energy out of me than it used to. Really need to work on my diet and exercise, I've found the older I get, the more important those things have really become...
