Did you know that Exxon-Moble's makes almost nothing off refinded fuels? That all most all of their profit comes from International Shipping between other countries?

If they were infact getting fat off you and I, then yes. I have researched this, they get almost all their profits from International shipping. Refined fuels are such a low margin item that Exxon/Mobile no longer own any gas stations. They are all privately owned because the profits they generated did not warrant keeping them open.

The only gas stations that operate at a profit level for the oil company that owns them is Citgo. I boycot them because of Chaves.

You want to address the price at the pump... get rid of the highest profit margin on them... Taxes. 18% Federal Tax... plus state taxes... and lets not forget Excise taxes for when it's transported accros state lines... and import taxes when it comes into the country.

I can certainly attest to what Gaf is saying here.

Out here in CT, we have the 2nd Highest gas tax in the nation.

Our state gas tax, combined with the federal tax, accounts for appoximately 58 cents of every gallon of gas sold in the state.

I just paid $2.61/gallon today; 58 cents of that is tax.

I know this idea may catch a bit of flack, but what if the 700 billion dollar bailout had been largely funded by hittin up ExxonMobil for some cash....
