Most of you know about Circus Obscene this Nov 1st at the ritz with us (cybertrybe and crud - plus many more).

What you don't know is, Vandl, Kitty and I will be hosting Circus Obscene every Thursday Night at the Ritz. THIS WILL NOT BE THE SAME AS THEIR OLD THURSDAY NIGHTS!!! It will be so much more - with local and out of town special guest DJ's, crazy freak acts, special bands on occasions (Not evey night) and a mixture of Goth, Industrial, Techno music all night long.

Hourly drink specials and new drinks we came up with ourselves!

Why are we doing this? Vandl, Kitty and I (of cybertrybe) love all things freakish. We love side show acts, we love goth, industrial and techno and right now - we have to go to many different clubs to get our fix but.... not anymore. I am amazed by fire breathers and pain doctors - tattoos and piercings. On certain Thursdays we will have tattoo artist and body modification specialist on hand to do you right!

This is going to be a 3 ring circus of the obscene and oddities and the very best mix of music we all love. So please come out and support us because we are doing it for you!

This Saturday night is the grand opening party with Crud, CyberTrybe and many more bands and crazy shit in the sidelines - then starting next Thursday Night, Vandl, Kitty and I will be your host every Thursday for the strange and bizarre.... but remember... YOU ARE PART OF THE SHOW!!!!! If you have some special weird talent and you want to show it off - our doors are open to you. If you are a DJ - turn tables preferred - cds ok... get in touch with us and let us hear your stuff. We will exhibit you on stage - not in the DJ both.

Not too many DJ's in the industrial scene here in town that go off of vinyl any more (it's what I learned on but once cd's came, well the vinyl is in storeage). Not too many current industrial bands even press on vinyl any longer...

Ad I put in the shadowbox.net forum, I wanted to post this here as well because I know there are plenty of folks here that do the same:

Hello, I am Sean Mooer, creater of the Industrial band CYBERTRYBE. My guitarist and I have started a night at a local venue here in Detroit called "Circus Obscene" and we are looking for odd acts to perform on our night. We have noticed that there are several annual events here in the metro area featuring acts of this kind but no venue with this type of performance on a regular basis. Vandl (my guitarist) and I love this kind of atmosphere and wanted to create a place where people could see this regularly and performers could show off their talents on any given Thursday Night. This is a great time to practice in front of a crowd for bigger events you may be booked at.

We are also looking to have vendors each week to promote their goods whether it be goth, industrial, cyberpunk or fetish apparel, jewelry, hair, piercing and tattoos shops... etc.

We are trying to have a circus/carnival atmosphere along with goth, industrial, techno and trance music with special guest DJ's - also occasionally - same style bands and music acts. (Voodoo style drum cores.... ethnic tribal percussion and instrument groups) ALL ARE WELCOME and ALL will be considered. This is a nice size venue with full stage, dance floor and great sound and light system - you will be treated well.

This night is set up to PROMOTE YOU!

Actually, I know some vinyl DJ's from out of town and will be inviting them as well.... they want to come out. CD DJ's are just as much welcome.... what I don't want is someone coming in with a lap top and Itunes ... I can do that lol! I want DJ's who will excite the crowd - ones that will talk to them and create a party atmosphere... not just play tunes like in a strip bar lol! I love what DJ Yoda does at Necto.

Understandably, CD's are gonna be permitted because of what you said above.... I have to do that and I know some that are damn good at it.

We will be placing the guest DJ's on the stage for all to see him work and will have a large video screen behind them in the case they have video they want to play during their set. We also have mounted video cams all over the stage so we can feed the live video to all the TV's and one other screen in the bar area. It's a chance for these DJ's to perform instead of being couped up in a both out of sight. If they have their own lights or props they want to bring on stage... they will be more than welcome to bring it.

And one other thing... it isn't only goth/industrial although that is mine and Vandl's preference.... we also want techno and trance.... I like that as well as long as its mixed up and somewhat original.... again... not a laptop with itunes.

thanks, I hope it takes off.... now if I can only talk them into becoming an after hours club as well.... that will take some work.

I hope you guys at least give this a chance and come out a few times... it will build as we go.... just want somewhere cool to do our thing ya know?

Oh... and remember.... tomorrow night is our opening party with us and CRUD playing.... it's gonna be a blast.

TONIGHT! Erotica 4 pre-party! We start Circus Obscene! We did not book any acts for tonight because of Erotica 4 and the Taproot concert going on. We do however have DJ BLAYD coming in and hourly drink specials all night. We will also have DJ F.I.S.T coming Thanksgiving night plus Nizzle from evil mind sink will be performing fleshpulls and other cool stuff.

But for tonight.... just come out and see the place, have some drinks with us and chill out before the craziness of Erotica 4 starts!
