Draco1958 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/2008...ny-recall_N.htm SEATTLE — Computer makers are recalling 100,000 laptop battery packs made by Sony after 40 reports of overheating, according to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notice Thursday. The recall applies to certain Sony 2.15Ah lithium-ion cell batteries made in Japan and sold around the world in laptops made by Hewlett-Packard Co., Dell Inc. and Toshiba Corp.
Head Wreck Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 All LiPo bateries are volotile, some more volotile than others.
Reaper Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I think my Dell laptop battery is in this. I have it charging most of the time but it still gets very hot when I have it sittin here, esp when I play games that require the processor to work harder. The battery drain can be quite immense.
Head Wreck Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 lipos get hot when charging (my charge rig for lipos have a thermopile to keep an eye on this. it amuses me. i have a laptop and think nothing of charging it on a wooden desk, yet my lipo packs are in a nomex bag within an old ammo tin outside the house when i charge those. just incase
Reaper Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I usually set my laptop on my pillows while I am laying down in the tractor trailer here so when I start feeling the heat on the pillow I try to prop it up with my hand or an object to let the air get under the laptop. I also use my laptop as my MP3 player with the music selection I put on here. I have a tape deck adapter that plugs into the headphone jack and sends my music into my truck's sound system. Its better than CDs cause the laptop doesn't skip. This truck is a Volvo and they still use tape decks even though they are electronic.
