Mouf Breathah Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I guess it came out yesterday exclusively at Best Buy? I'm curious. Anybody heard/bought/downloaded it? Whatchu think?
Destroit Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I heard it online. I giggled. A lot. It's that bad? I figured as much, imo, the only reason they came back is probably the same reasons many artists do: They ran out of their initial fame money and they need some more.
jynxxxedangel Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Uggggh!!!!! The vocals are TERRIBLE, flat, and too flange-ey. The rhythm guitar is mixed with too much mid-range. The leads have too much treble. This album is HORRIBLY overproduced. The songs sound as if Guns N' Roses is imitating itself. Whoever this new singer is, his diction and delivery SUCK. Enough said. How very disappointing.
bean Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 It's that bad? I figured as much, imo, the only reason they came back is probably the same reasons many artists do: They ran out of their initial fame money and they need some more. It's not that it was that bad. I just found it funny. The eternal and I were figuring out what other band each song sounded like. It was entertaining. There were songs that you could tell were written 14 years ago. No big deal. A little old school GNR never hurt. There were the songs that you could tell were written when nu metal was big. It would have worked back then. Now, it's just kinda funny. Especially with Axl's singing style. Then there were the songs where they trying to incorporate all the new stuff you here these days, but then there's Axl's voice with it. Axl singing + electronic music = amusing. The slower songs were amusing because it was a mix of cheesy monster ballads from the 80's while trying to be modern.
Head Wreck Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 looking to be one to avoid... unlike the last ACDC album
jynxxxedangel Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Double UGGGGGH!! That was actually W. Axl Rose?? He sounds bloody AWFUL. What has he done to make his voice sound so flat and lifeless?
Head Wreck Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 umpteen years of drugs and alcohol and trying to board planes via the luggage loader
Mouf Breathah Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 Double UGGGGGH!! That was actually W. Axl Rose?? He sounds bloody AWFUL. What has he done to make his voice sound so flat and lifeless? Yeah. This album went into production 14 years ago..... I'm sure they probably have about 6 albums worth of songs they had to wade through to come up with the album which would explain why certain songs sound like the came from different eras. The only other person I heard a review from was a friend of mine who said it was "friggin awesome!" But GnRs his favorite band so it's easy to see that he's completely biased. lol. I think I'll make him burn me a copy before I decide to go buy it on my own. I was hoping they could put out something decent.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I've heard half of it, and liked everything I've heard. I'll pick it up at some point...probably after the holidays.
Der Nister Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I won't have any trouble avoiding this one.
DarkVampire Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 That bad eh? That sucks. They were good back in the day, now they are has beens. At the top of their game during Use Your Illusions albums then they self destructed. Such a waste of talent.
IsleofRhodesEnt Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Listening to Chinese Democracy is like knowing Voldemort Exist if your in a Harry Potter book. You know it's there, and you will do everything in your power to avoid it's calamity. the title track isn't that bad...but the whole thing is, in all, a train wreck...and not the "ooooohhhh...look at that" kind...more like that "eh...train hit a penny" kind. I'm not sure what Axl was trying to accomplish..but he failed...the musicianship is terriable...and some of the stuff would have been better left in the hands of NIN or Skinny Puppy. Axl...you were a failure when Slash and the rest of them left you...and your a failure now...save yourself what little dignity you have left and STOP making music.
Dollardave Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Lest I recall this CD is banned in China and not to be purchased at stores in China check CNN.com but I'm pretty sure it is. $$

DarkVampire Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I don't know why its called Gun n Roses, Axl is the only original member left. Looks more like a failed Axl Rose solo project. I sure the hell won't buy it.
Hellion Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Don't care for it The last good albums G&R did was Use your illusion 1 and 2 its time for Axl Rose to retire from the music industry
Brenda Starrr Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 I don't know why its called Gun n Roses, Axl is the only original member left. Looks more like a failed Axl Rose solo project. I sure the hell won't buy it. Who will pay for all of Axl's plastic surgery now??? Who, I ask you?
IsleofRhodesEnt Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Who will pay for all of Axl's plastic surgery now??? Who, I ask you? not Steven Adler.....
Brenda Starrr Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 not Steven Adler..... LMAO....that's a whole 'nother train wreck!
Mean Salley Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 LMAO....that's a whole 'nother train wreck! I was at a friends house a few weeks ago and they were watching some drunken celebrity rehab show. And we couldn't figure out for the longest time, Who the hell had someone so completely bereft of any sort of sense or cognitive function in their band? Oh yeah, Guns and Roses, that was their first drummer. I dont' care how long he was an addict, you have to be born dumb to be like that.
Mean Salley Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 By biggest gripe is that it sounds like Axl Rose, a bit older with four generic rock stars featuring generic rock star hair, generic rock star tattoos, and generic rock star piercings. Four dudes who follow all of the rock star rules so they can get laid and be on TV. Who the hell will even know who they are in 5 years? I listened to four songs and besides Axl's voice I don't remember a thing about the music. If you pick the prettiest, most generic looking rock stars, you're going to get generic rock and roll. It sounds like a myspace band with Axl Rose. I'm sure they look awesome.
Homicidalheathen Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 It's that bad? I figured as much, imo, the only reason they came back is probably the same reasons many artists do: They ran out of their initial fame money and they need some more. there are not to many bands I HATE guns and roses is one of them
DarkVampire Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I wished they had the original members. The Illusion albums were their finest works. I like the bluesy songs on those albums.
