Actually most of his original follower have fallen away...well, its more like they cast him out. its just hard to explain. You have to go back to the roots of the scene. I actually agree with many of their teachings. It was not just the Christians that they wanted to cast out, it was all religions that they felt had corrupted their people. In a way they were and are right. The christians were a big part of it but it was still all religions. Before religion the only struggles were between rulers. After religion there was chaos. Rulers AND religious rulers were battling for power. People that once knew what was right and wrong and how their society had always function were now thrust into a constantly changing set of norms that were brought in by all the religions and all the other countries. These people were considered animals, when they were really just a people that were perfectly happy the way they were.

Burzum was one of the best bands back in the day. They helped the movement alot and their music is hard to understand. I always tell people that I just want to go into the woods and act like a troll. They get confused when I say that. Well, Burzum, Immortal, and all the other bands really started that. It was not all hateful music, its was really kind of goofy. They were basically protesting the social norms by going back to the times of their ancestors. One of the members of Immortal would actually bury his concert gear so that it was rotting and tattered when he wore it. Thats the way his clothes would have been had be been living in old times. These guys played and practiced at old houses or in the woods with very little in the way of electronics or human contact.

When you say most unmusical I have to disagree with you. To people that have the exact definition of music then yes, they were not musical. But, their music was what music is...and that is what you need it to be. It was, more or less, the voice of their past with a change in the type of instruments used. Alot of his songs were battle songs or victory songs. There were also funeral songs, festival songs, songs to the gods, etc...

I think that the death metal scene at the time was awesome. It's too bad that people just took it for hate and white power shit. In fact, hate and white power were not part of it. I guess its ok for other people to be proud of their heritage but when white people do it its just hate. Yeah, my roots come from Nordic and Celtic areas so I tend to be proud of that. I do not see why me being proud of this makes me hateful and racist. Yeah, the symbols that I wear were used by Hitler, but where did Hitler steal those from? These sysmols, even after Hitler uesed them, are meant to be symbols of my gods or my power. Nothing more, nothing less. If I wear "lighting bolts" on my shoulders I am in no way saying that I am hunting down jews. The Odhroerir on my back deals with Odin, and nothing of Hitlers shit. The sunwheel on my chest is not a swastika...it is a sunwheel.

In short...let us leave black metal alone because they have done no wrong in their quests...and those that burned the church probably have something messed up in the head after the election. I am still sick of all the sore winners as I have never seen so much hate and destruction after any sort of victory.

i wasnt dissing blackmetal for being hateful to race. but there was guys like euronymus who althou didnt use mayhem for political angst. people did follow him. perhaps the murder was also the spawn of a lot of questioning of the genre at the whole. or the murder was to stop him from well, fucking everything up and unintentionally or perhaps intentionally making black metal scene into a satanist army with destructive intentions. either way history has passed. and i guess this whole music is to blame thing is becoming old.

but this was almost a generation ago. the scene died and got lost in the void as metal was extended to its final reaches of expression that it could go with idiology in the music form. also the internet i think killed any chance of a tight nit circle.

Wow. Some people really need to be locked up and the key thrown away. I really can't understand people who burn down churches/synagogues/temples/mosques and such. Nor the people that cheer such a thing on. It really makes me wonder if they are completely corrupt in their morals or just mentally handicapped.

Honestly. I see a church as a building. Its only so OMG because someone whorships something in there. I dont think you would be so concerned if it was just some old vacant building Sarah Palin sits in every whatever day.

All in all the person doesnt have corrupt morals or is mentally handicapped they just see it differently than you. I dont even consider churches and what not 'sacred' places. RELIGION IS MOST CORRUPT.

I wasn't saying that you were dissing black metal, just making sure that people know.

Euronymous was big into promoting. Not really a sellout, he just wanted as big of a following as he could get. Death was awesome sadly he was true to his name and commited suicide in quite a funnny was. The reasons for Varg killing Euronymous is still a mystery but it was either that he wan't evil enough and had to die, or that he owed Varg some money which I can believe because they worked together for many years.

Even with these deaths the scene still lives on. There are still quite a few bands out there and I am planning on a trip to Amsterdam and Germany to go to some festivals this summer. Only problem being the security because people are always getting stabbed there for some reason. Band like Cradle of Filth, Celtic Frost, Ensiferum, Dimmu Borgir were around back then and still carry the torch.

Actually I just saw them a little while ago and Petri Lindroos, the guy from Norther, did one hell of a job. I knew they would be at the show but when he stepped up I got confused and angry at the same time. But...to tell you the truth if I had not seen anything and had just listened I would not have known that jari was not on vocals. I am probably wrong but I stand by my statement that they did well. Give them a chance...they need some time because quick change often ends in stabbings!

I think Cradle of Filth is coming to Detroit sometime soon...I have to see them again because the last two times I was on drugs. Damn, death metal and some girl with a corset pushing her massive boobs up...and on those mellons are four lines and what do you know I happen to have a rolled up dollar bill...who the hell could resist that?!?!

Damage to the Wasilla Bible Church was estimated at $1 million, authorities said Saturday. No one was injured in the fire, which was set Friday night while a handful of people, including two children, were inside, according to Central Mat-Su Fire Chief James Steele.

He said the blaze was being investigated as an arson but didn't know of any recent threats to the church. Authorities didn't know whether Palin's connection to the church was relevant to the fire, Steele said.

+
Palin, who was not at the church at the time of the fire, stopped by Saturday. Her spokesman, Bill McAllister, said in a statement that Palin told an assistant pastor she was sorry if the fire was connected to the "undeserved negative attention" the church has received since she became the vice presidential candidate Aug. 29.

I THINK...Palin had it done by some thug.

A church worth at least 1 million?

The church being burned is wrong, but a several million dollar building dedicated to the worship of a guy who said "The love of money is the root of all evil." is also not entirely "kosher" so to speak.

I'm convinced there's a third testament somewhere that justifies outrageous wealth for believers and the foundations for a "Christian" nation featuring overwhelming military power. It very likely also contains scripture that nullifies, the "all have sinned" clause prevalent in previous testaments.

I can't think of a Catholic church that isn't worth that much, at least.

You're absolutely right, and if it was all that money put into inspiration from said deity, (for any religion), by all means pour money into it. Look at the Sistine chapel, or the Kutná Hora. These were inspired by belief in God, and are magnificent works even to those who don't believe, but if it's just a display of wealth, it sort of defeats the purpose. Most catholic churches do however have a lot more going on in the way of inspired art. A lot of protestant churches... well they have starbucks in the fellowhip hall, and a fucking big television.

Considering it was a slightly new church it would probably be worth a couple million. They just built a church in my town, well, they added on, and its cost them 3 million to build it. You have to have some sort of building to do your thing in and in todays world that takes money. It takes more money when you want to make people comfortable, have lighting, furniture, various materials, etc...

Having come from a Christian family, not being one myself, I have never seen the evil Christians that people speak of. The "Christians" that are rich are not really Christians at all...they are about as Christian as the terrorists are Muslims.

I think that the list of people to blame here not only doesn't have black metal people on it, it also excludes Christians and other religions.

I blame a random dumbass that needed the fire to shoot his wad. Its Alaska people, if you don't drive the ice road, love salmon, build igloos, drill for oil, or run a dogsled team it can become pretty boring.

Maybe I just don't know how much buildings cost. lol

I'm still standing by what I say on account of it's principle. That way I can sound SMRT

I grant you the right to sound SMRT. Plus who knows...half the building could have been made from snow and ice which would have cut alot of the cost from building materials...

i beg to differ on that mel brooks comment.

its very fortunate nobody was seriously hurt or killed.

find the bastard and charge him for attempted murder

Im with HW. I am just appalled at this crime, but in India an extremist group burned 30 churches within the year. I was livid! I would NEVER burn a church actually when I was in a band at a party we were playing one of the party goers went to the nearby church and broke the windows. Everyone turned him in. I was never asked about it by the police, but they had their man and told him they had his prints on the rocks he was fucked and got what he deserved. History tho many churches, mosques, synagogues, and other religious places in history were destroyed. Hitler was so evil that he had babies baptists not in front of a statue of Christ but rather in front of a picture of him. He was very evil and started his own germanic religion and everyone fell in step with him as their fuhrer those that resisted I believe were jailed or executed unsure. My dad was stationed in Germany after the war as a army officer for the US. This was in the 50s. 5 yrs after the war and the Berlin wall was built by Russia I believe.

really, that was the show with tyr? i did want to go to see tyr mostly as there music is odly good. even thou there style and his voice reminds me of metallica. not that its bad i liked how far to asgard very much accually.

perhaps petri in norther well with recent times is getting more and more cob like. first few albums where alright albums. then it went downhill

now speaking of jari, yes i know overhyped, but you listen to wintersun stuff. its pretty good. more powermetally but done rather well. sorry OP but you should never end something with the word metal in it. it will involve trolling and well talking about metal.

It was the show with GWAR and...well the other two bands sucked. But having the beautiful music of Ensiferum right before the horrible chaos that is GWAR was sweet. But remember this, if you get invited to GWAR's tour bus after the show to smoke weed...don't, just don't it is not worth is those guys are odd enough in their costumes but even though I was with a few girls I had no clue who they were hitting on or how many cases of whiskey the had downed in ten minutes...I would have been less frightened if they had kept the costumes on. Man thongs...that is all.

Metal talk > any OP

Ha...because it is odd or because you also rock one?

I have to say that even though GWAR is a band full of old men they really rock the bikini wax and man thong combo very well. I can only hope that my legs are that awesome when I get to be that age...
