DJ Saint Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 bump to bring thread back to the first page Thanks. Been meaning to update. Gotta hit all the LJ communities this weekend as well. Servitor Sanctum 7 will also be joining Caustic live on stage at the Detroit show for a few tracks adding their unique tribal drum style.
deadbydesire Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 http://music.vampirefreaks.com/download/album.php?id=497 FREE DOWNLOAD of The Gothsicles NESferaTWO (Old Album, New Remixes) available on VF The Gothsicles are easily one of the top five reasons you should go to this event: chime in for more... Just wondering what are the other 4??
Meta Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I'm not trying to specifically rank these in any order but I think the following are good reasons: - as previously stated, The Gothsicles, a witty ensemble from WI - fans of video games/satire/good-natured self-referential humor will definitely appreciate - refreshing in a [battlefield] of emo bear rights, full metal jacket samples, and hand staple forehead - all bands are touring with new albums/merch; with the lack of a definitive local source (ie, the former East Alley Records) for a lot of the music enjoyed in this particular subculture, this is a good opportunity for supporters to explore music that may not be popular enough to warrant an online purchase without seeing an act's potential - in other words, skeptics may turn to fans =) - Matt Fanale (of Caustic) is awesome. Seriously, I can't put it any other way. He does an incredible amount of work for the Madison alternascene and he's hilarious to boot. Check the Sideline forums, VF, Myspace, his own LJ, etc for past accounts of his unexpected and often amusing live antics - Many bands favored by this scene don't tour often/often enough/at all and the D isn't always a favored stop. I'm pretty sure this particular point has been beaten to death to various degrees throughout the years concerning a variety of acts, so rehashing isn't necessarily needed. There's also the flipside of certain acts who tour pretty much every year; this tour is not one of those tours. =) - All Ages - $7-10 - you could probably take pop cans back to recycling and get that cash simply from the deposit refund to afford admission to the show I know there's probably others, but that's all I've got right now. =)

DJ Saint Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 The new Prometheus Burning CD is hands down one of the best releases I've heard in the genre in the last 10 years. Will be exciting to see how these tracks translate live. A few weeks away people. This one is gonna be stellar!
DJ Saint Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 from Matt of Caustic http://rcpt.yousendit.com/665788915/51a8dc7430b3ddab9c57f08b10da5de2 Above is a link to a nine track sampler featuring 3 tracks each from CAUSTIC, PROMETHEUS BURNING, and THE GOTHSICLES. Potential show-goers can have a listen... --- See you all at the show...
Darus313 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 IT AIN'T DEAD YET TOUR 2009w/ CAUSTIC, PROMETHEUS BURNING, and THE GOTHSICLES March 31, 2009 DETROIT, MI Smalls (w/SPLIT HORIZON) ALL AGES $7 21+ $10 under 21 Caustic Caustic is like a gnat that won't stop buzzing in your ear, especially if that gnat is a big loud bald dude with a drinking problem blasting relentless distorted dance beats into your skull. Started in 2002 by Madison, WI's Matt Fanale, Caustic has built a surprisingly impressive grassroots fanbase with his combination of unpredictable, anarchic live shows (generally accompanied by The Gothsicles on live duties) and DIY fuck-all attitude. Caustic has put out a prolific amount of music in the last few years and has performed coast to coast in the U.S., as well as in the sold-out Infest Festival in the U.K. Caustic has been on bills with everyone from Apoptygma Berzerk to Combichrist, and from Grendel to some other band I'm name dropping to try and impress you. Are you still even reading? Seriously? Huh. Well, y'know, thanks for that. Um, don't do drugs and stay in school...or something. And don't burn bums. .:. On The Web http://www.tellmeaboutmyuterus.com http://www.myspace.com/causticmusic http://www.vampirefreaks.com/u/caustic Gothsicles The duo of darkNES and :EYG: deliver a searing mix of electro/punk with lyrical topics exploring the range of all things geeky, a combination that the band has dubbed "Nintendustrial/EB-Mulator." With their very costumes baring accoutrements of the original Nintentdo, from belt buckles made of the controllers to darkNES' Power Glove, and songs like "One Second Ghost" and "Konami Code IV," complete with video projections featuring montages of various Nintendo and Atari games from the early '80s, The Gothsicles are this scene's answer to nerdcore; watching them, one can almost expect MC Chris to step up from backstage to contribute to the band's raucous show. They even take a self-deprecating look at the goth/industrial culture with "So You've Decided to Become a Goth" and "I Can Tell You Shop (At Hot Topic)" as the projections feature many luminaries of the scene and even their own geeky natures with "Hey, I've Got that Font." Shouting out his vocals with dramatic fervor, darkNES jumps on and off the stage, dancing with the audience at various times, truly breaking the invisible wall that seems to exist between spectator and performer at so many shows. THE FUNNEST SHOW YOU WILL SEE IN A LONG TIME!!! .:. On The Web http://www.thegothsicles.com http://www.myspace.com/thegothsicles Prometheus Burning Prometheus Burning is a female fronted, genre-bending Electro-Industrial band, focusing on experimental vocal structures, aggressive beats, complex rhythms, dark atmospherics, and glitched out electronic noise. Their "cut-n-paste" lyrical style is cryptic but coherent, painting pictures in the minds eye of their listeners. Every song seems to contain a story, a clue, a piece of a much larger puzzle, often referencing the occult, chaos magick, transhumanistic philosophy, and cyberpunk ideals. Inspired by the early Industrial acts of their youth such as Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Download, Pyschic TV, Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Frontline Assembly, and Front 242, Prometheus Burning was created to keep the flame alive. Since 1999 they have been crafting an ever evolving, emotional, experimental, and harsh sound true to the roots of Industrial, yet innovative and expressive enough to push the envelope in a post-Industrial musical era. .:. Detroit's Split Horizon combines elements of breakcore, noise, techno, and electro providing a strong statement for the intertwining of ideas and music. .:. the eternal Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 We're trying to watch funds, but I think for four good bands, we'll make an exception. See you there.
DJ Nocker Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Tomorrow!!! Are you all ready? Ithink the real question is....are YOU ready? Becuase I am. Are you going to be DJing in between bands?
DJ Saint Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Ithink the real question is....are YOU ready? Becuase I am. Are you going to be DJing in between bands? I don't think I will be DJ'ing between bands. With 4 of them that leaves little time. I may just make a few compilations cds of good varied stuff to have the sound guy throw in before/between/after bands... we'll see.
deadbydesire Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 ITS FINALLY HERE BITCHES.....TIME TO GET YOUR PUSSIES WET AND COCKS HARD.
pleasurekatzen Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Scraping the bands off of my floor/futon/bed. I can't imagine anything being more fun than last night... Except for tonight!! In the meantime, I think we're off to terrorize downtown Detroit..... after coffee of course. Must have coffee. See you all in a few hours!!
