Do you think you could ever be friends with someone who is racist or a skinhead? Like hardcore hate?

Could you get past those beliefs if they weren't showing them to you all the time?

My 2 cents... A person has a right to their thoughts, hatred and beliefs based on what they feel is just regardless of what I think of them or not. Not all "racists" come at you the same way. There are different factions of "racism" and some people accept some creeds, some don't. It's pretty silly really. There is racism even between the same cultures, as in Latins. Puerto - Ricans generally can't stand Mexicans or Spanish people, it's just more hate we don't need on this planet. Even African- Americans make fun of other African- Americans who are darker than they are, it's just an insecurity. I wouldn't go looking for or keep friends who base anything on something as ridiculous as a skin color. Something you had no choice over.

Just as everyone has a right to their own beliefs and opinions, I'd choose to hang with like minded folks. I'm not a racist, nor would I choose to associate with anyone who would show such prejudice. Most of the people I associate with are open minded and cool with everyone, like I am. That's just how I roll!

Sorry but I really have to point something out here. Skinhead were never and are still not racist. We started out in England when the Rude Boys from Jamaica and their music combined with the British Mods and their music and lifestyle. Its a groups that deals with the fashion, music, and lifetyle of the working class youth. We listen to Ska, Punk, Oi, etc. We have no political talk allowed at any of our meeting or on our forums. There is no talk of skin color either.

The shaved heads are in defiance to the culture at the time and we still do it for the same reasons today. Everyone defines theselves by their hair style and hair color so we have none so that we cannot be defined.

So I guess my answere is...yeah I have run into racists before...AND I have run into many skinheads considering I hang out with them. Now, there are such things as RACIST skinhead but that is only because the word RACIST has been put in front of skinhead....you can do that with anything watch....RACIST GOTH....oh no

When I managed my store in Cadillac... I had a hard core member of the national Socialist party come in my store on a regular basis. The first time he came in he was wearing all kinds of pins, buttons and jewelry that if you knew what to look for was Nazi regalia mixed with Norse symbolic to cover what it really was (it's a new tactic they have to recognize one another).

I escorted him to the door rather forcefully without actually making any body contact. Once outside I informed he that he was welcome in my store and his money was just as good as anyone elses... as long as I could not see any of his offensive clap-trap and he never spoke to me about his views on "race". If he did, I would take that as permission to beat him into a fine jelly.

We had a fine business relationship after that. I even went to a few LAN party's hosted at his house. He, and all his Friends, removed all Nazi symbolism from their computers and walls before I got there. We limited our conversations to things that were "safe". Politics came up a few times... and we even agreed on many things that we saw as too much government control of our lives.

Tolerance and understanding goes both ways.

Actually some of the worst racism that I have ever come across has been in Milwaukee, WI. If you are white there are many part of town that you dare not enter. You stick out like a sore thumb and the only reason that cops and the residents think that you are there for is drugs or a fight. The Rave is in a bad part of town and being a huge rock club it offers quite the experience when attending a concert. They have had to employ a large number of security forces to ensure the safety of the people and vehicles there. I have undergone tons of racial attacks when walking to a concert there. Its horrible and is going largely ignored. I have seen quite a few fights break out resulting in injury where many of the locals will gang up on one or two concert goers. I can't go to a concert without a large knife in my boots, brass knuckles, and a telescopic billy club anymore. I just had my weapons in at the door when I get there...although a recent incident makes me want to sneak them in. There was a Type O Negative concert where a bunch of kids, not gonna say skin color here, brought in an NWA banner and they started yelling the lyrics to a song call "young black and proud" while they began throwing beer bottles and various other objects at people.

I like intelligent black people who respect everyone, but, I SURE HATES ME SOME NIGGERS! To be fair the intelligent black people previously mentioned also hate them, because they give them all a bad name (that is where the stereotypes comes from) and they hate dealing with them as well.

Also perhaps at one time the term nigger used to mean ignorant. However the term gay also used to mean happy. This is just something that ignorant white psudo-racists say to make themselves feel better about using the word. To me it means stupid black person. If we're being specific and talking about a white person then the proper term is wigger. They all mean someone from the ghetto/trailer park that doesn't know shit about shit.

Hell most of my dad's side of the family is racist light or "diet-racist" as I like to call them. They'll deal with black people sure but you'll never see one over at their house. I think the last time we even had a black person come around here (who wasn't working for the city/post office/selling something/walking down the street) was my aunt Anita's friend who she worked with but I haven't seen her in YEARS. I also know better than to bring my black friends around which kinda sucks.

Hardcore racists, no. I could manage to tolerate them for professional reasons, but would never have any desire to get "friendly" with them. That said, most people have a certain amount of prejudice. I can deal with that in friends and family members as long as they still treat members of those groups with respect. I have a rule that my friends and family members are not allowed to use racial slurs in front of me, for any reason. I find them very offensive, and I will correct them.

as for the questions iam friends with my moms B/f and hes a white supermisist he dosent push his ideals on me nor do i try to change his mind on his opinoins he respects my choices to hang out be friends or date other creeds nationalities or people of color or religion

the best example i can give would be a like the white slave owner having sex with one of the slaves...

Oh and on a note with skinheads:

Racist skinheads shave their heads because they are not "pure blood" and they are ashamed of being laughed at. Real skinheads shave their heads moslty because its still not considered a very "popular" hairstyle.

Racist skinheads wear braces, suspenders, because thats what Hitler's storm troopers wore and they are copying that. Also, racist skinheads wear braces what are 1/2 in wide or wider because thats how they were made in WW2. Real skinheads wear braces because thats what the working class wore back when they started the movement. Their braces must be 1/4 or thinner because that how they were made back in the day.

Racist skinheads wear black boots and ONLY black boots because thats what the Nazis wore. They cannot be any higher or lower than mid-calf because that how tall the Nazi boots were, they also MUST be shiny. Real skinheads were any kind of boot no matter what height, color, or style. They can be shiny or worn. Also, many sorts of tennis shoes are popular because its associated with british football. With either group laces can be any color and don't mean jack shit except to certain individuals.

Racist skinheads usually have many rules as far as what they can and cannot wear. Real skinheads have a very wide selection of clothing and are not limited to anything. A little research into what started the movement and what we dress and think like may be in order for some people. It can be educational and in the end you will be better for it...plus we will force you to ride a Vespa cuz they are badass!
