Racial thoughts

I've known people to base friendships, or their ideas of friendship, off of drug habits, drinking habits, sex, what have you. They never get into beliefs or what have you. So you can really base a friendship on anything, but it's all in what YOU think a friendship is and needs I guess.

They think it's a friendship but it's not. Friendship is based off of mutual respect and cooperation "you take care of me and I'll take care of you" type of a deal. True friendship is giving without expecting anything in return though.

Now how about white people calling other white people"cracker, honkie, etc"that can't be racist(directed at their own race)

Does it offend anyone here when the word Cracker,or Honkie is used.

Just like some blacks call others,N----,can't be racist either.(directed at their own race)

Now for the crime and race issue

Whites,involved in crime.child molesters/pedophiles,serial killers,(chopping up the body)

Blacks,stealing,carjacking,robbery

Hispanics,Gangs.violence,random shootings

This is not to offend any race, but this is what you read about in the news, and in Readers,Digest.

unfortunately I cannot find the article on this, but they did have a thing about race, and crime in America.

I don't hang around anyone that is either a hardcore racist, trouble maker, druggie, etc etc.

I tend to adopt the paradigm I was taught in tech school: NO use of any of the derogatory words with the hatred implied behind them is acceptable. At all.

The punishment was brutal. It could easily have bought you 30days in correctional custody (basically boot camp all over again, with a vengance.) REGARDLESS of who said it. Even if it was someone of the same ethnic group.

Then again, I tend to lump the entirety of humanity under Homo sapiens sapiens to begin with.

I couldn't get past it for long I am afraid. It would come up...how can I be friends with someone like that long term...no. Not for me.

However one cannot chose one's family and I have many family members that are racist to the core.

I try to get past it but...when stupid things come out of peoples mouths...I want to smack them.

I suppose that makes me just as bad in a way.

I'm also friends with a girl who's racist. But she's racist out of fear since she was raped by a black guy.

There is a camp of thought that when people use a racial slur that has been directed at their own group, for example blacks using the N word, that it's ok because they are "reclaiming" that word for their own use. I understand the argument, but I don't agree with it. Those words stem from hate and degradation. What good it it doing anyone to keep them around, in any context? They need to die out all together.

Regardless of what your race is, if someone is being an asshole, then just call him or her an "asshole". Why do we need to indicate whether someone is a black asshole or a white asshole or an Asian asshole or...well you get the idea.

That's derogatory to gays though. They love assholes you know.

Also, because I have to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2DxyAGzGxM "I'M TAKING IT BACK!"

Not to mention the Penn & Teller episode of Bullshit entitled "Poppycock" was excellent.

You know...that is the singularly MOST intelligent thing I have seen on DGN in at least 2 weeks.
