DTE accepting application summer student employmentFYI If you know anyone interested 18yrs old by the summer Applications for summer student employment program accepted Feb. 9 - Feb. 23. The 2009 summer student employment program will still be offered during 2009. Although we anticipate the 2009 program will be smaller in scope given budget constraints, there still appears to be adequate interest from business units to open the program. This program is one channel supporting our longer-term DTE Energy strategic initiative to develop our future workforce. Therefore, we want to expose interested students to the energy industry by providing summer employment opportunities. Students interested in the program should be aware of the following information: Electronic student applications. All interested students must complete an electronic Summer Student Questionnaire via dteenergy.com from Feb. 9-Feb. 23. No paper applications are accepted. When a student accepts an offer, he/she will receive a full application packet via e-mail from the recruiter with a specified completion date. No employee referrals necessary. Interested students are not required to have a DTE Energy employee referral. Leaders may request the rehire of former students on the 2009 requisition e-form. Preference will be given to students with college experience. Reporting relationships must not violate DTE Energy Policy EM18, Personal Relationships. Consistent with policy EM18, summer students should not be placed in an area where they are in a reporting relationship (either directly or indirectly) to employees with whom they have a familial relationship. If this should inadvertently happen, the parties should disclose the relationship to Mia Johnson, 8.235.9166, immediately prior to hire. Pre-determined 2009 hire and orientation dates. All students will be hired on May 4, 18, June 1 or June 15. Standard duration of assignments. In order to comply with provisions of our collective bargaining agreements and applicable state and federal laws, all summer student assignments will generally end within 120 days of hire (i.e., usually by Aug. 31). Please remember: If you are requesting a returning student or have a recommended student for your position, please identify him/her on your requisition form.
