Twin murders, serial killing suspected

At least two people have been stoned to death in the city during the last four days in an identical manner, reminding of such killings in Mumbai in 1980s, when an unidentified killer had lashed the faces of sleeping pavement dwellers in the dead of the night with a rock. Police said here today that the body of a 25-year-old man with mutilated face was found on Jubilee Road here yesterday. The face was beyond recognition, as it was smashed with a stone, which was found lying nearby with blood stains.

Police further informed that the thumb of the victim's right hand had a sign of 'cross' and his first finger had 'Om' written on it.

Words like ''Kiran'' in Gujarati and ''I love you'' in English were tattooed on his forehand.

Preliminary investigation revealed a possible love affair behind the murder. Another body was recovered near Randarda lake in the city's outskirts yesterday, police said adding that he was also killed in a similar manner.

The deceased was identified as Sanjay Parmar, a resident of Kevdawadi area.

His relatives stated that the deceased was a habitual drunkard.

However, the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.
