StormKnight (1) Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 So prohibition tries to repeat itself. Didn't they remember what happened in the 1920-30's with alcohol ban?

candyman Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 ....holy shit... .............you guys.........you'll get this passed on accident! STOP IT!! You know its only a matter of time...shit is getting banned everywhere...not just cigarettes...the age of making shit up, blowing other shit out of proportion, and frightening the living hell out of everyone is here... I told people...a long, long time ago that some of these first bans was just the government getting their foot in the door... Did anyone listen? No...before you could have made a good case about better control and the fact that we have "freedoms"...but now the time is over and you cannot speak...

pomba gira Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Never happen... government makes waaaay too much loot off of etoh sales. Those people have been around forever, there's an interview in a recent Modern Drunkard magazine. and unfortunately, no "they" apparently don't remember what happened under the Volstead act... 'cos the same thing has happened with drugs.
Slogo Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 and unfortunately, no "they" apparently don't remember what happened under the Volstead act... 'cos the same thing has happened with drugs. Though a step forward has been made. The A. General has said that the dea will no longer prosecute for marijuana. It'll be up to the states I don't smoke anymore but i still think it's a step in the right direction

It'll be up to the states I don't smoke anymore but i still think it's a step in the right direction I really hope that is true... I really hope that people start to learn...marijuana is finally getting a good look over and is getting the credit it deserves...however, I have a HUGE problem with alcohol advertisements. They went after tobacco like nuts and now there is really nothing besides walking into a store and seeing the packs...and now alcohol advertisement is running loose with what looks to be no supervision at all over their shameless adverts. Seriously, I saw three alcohol commercials in a row on TV last night and there was not one word of warning...it was all music and happy fun time with alcohol. I am not against the stuff, I only drink 20yo single malt scotch most of the time, but honeslty I do not see how these alcohol commercials are any better that the cigarette commercials of old. They may be worse... I won't even go into my rants about the extreme restrictions and fines that have placed on the legal and taxed tobacco products...

They may be worse... I agree. I like a nice drink as much as the next person... prolly more than some next persons... but I have major problems with the heavy advertising of alcohol in low-income communities. And with things like 40 oz malt liquors being marketed as a single serving. Come to that, I don't care for the proliferation of "energy drinks" either. Am I the only one who feels it's cause for concern, that we have a generation of kids consuming these massive amounts of stimulants on a daily basis? I have to wonder how that's going to affect... oh, all kinds of things... down the road.

jynxxxedangel Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 +1I'd just like to say that I come from a line of moonshiners...you can't stop me from following family tradition. Amen. I still have my Great Gran's potcheen receipt.

They may be worse... I've actually been saying that for years. It really is a double standard and someone should do something about it. However I'm sure the cigarette companies have tried everything to get commercials back on the air and that the alcohol companies would try everything to keep theirs on the air as well. I say legalize everything, just don't advertise it, then let Darwin sort 'em out. :D
