Spring is almost here!

Yemaya be praised! I've been watching for them for a couple weeks now, and today I finally saw them! Those blessed harbingers of winter's end... the first crocuses are poking up their lovely little green heads in my front yard! No blooms yet but the shoots are definitely there. I can't express how stoked I am to have this sign that the long, brutal winter is almost at an end! YAAAAY CROCUSES!!!

mine are not coming up yet...but I did notice I accidently covered some bulbs on a garden I am working on at someone else' house.

Rule of thumb, don't do rock borders until after the first blooms so you know where the edge is

I guess they must be these cause they come up first...? All bulbs look alike when they first shoot

I'm still trying to find Crocus sativus(saffron crocus) bulbs to plant before autumn. NO ONE has them-- online, or otherwise.

Boshy's tulips are coming in, so yeah, and I've seen fat chummly little fucking robins everywhere.

I've already got my garden planned out too, if you guys had any idea what the fuck I'm fitting into a space that's probably only 20'x20', you'd be shocked.

It Must Be Spring

There was a spider in my shower this morning.

Forget groundhogs; they are warm blooded mammals just like us. I think arachnids are a better indicator of changing weather conditions. First spider of the year means warm weather is near.

I haven't seen a wild spidey yet, this year!! I have seen a few flies, and a couple of yellowjackets, but that's it. Did you get pics?

The weather has definitely broken, as both my chives and chamomile have begun to come up.

Lilacs in full effect, boyeeeee!

I LOVE lilacs. I just yoinked a HUGE bouquet of red and white lilacs, from a neighbour's tree. I knocked on the door, and asked politely first, of course.

They are just opening up-- fragrant, and lovely. Nothing else in the world smells like this.

Ooooh I so wish I had lilacs in my yard... there is a gorgeous one at work, was just wondering yesterday if a cutting would root. I know next to nothing about this gardening stuff.

I want forsythia too... we had 2 huge ones on either side of the porch steps when I was a cub.

Growing lilac from cutting is difficult, but growing from seed isn't! Wait until long after the flowers are spent, and the seed pods are fully formed; then, gather them up. Plant the seeds in a well-drained area, and there you go. It takes about 5 years for the seedlings to grow into decent-size bushes.
