Official site not up yet nor has the official lineup been announced. I suggest checking out event promoter Paxahau's website at http://www.paxahau.com/p4x4hau/ They have a blog like site where they have been updating the status of the event. Could probably expect more announcements over the next few weeks/months.

I think I'd only go if Autechre was coming back to perform...

DEMF also has a myspace profile /detroitmusicfest . They post periodic bulletins from Paxahau, but they are still in the planning stages right now.

USUALLY it's actually starting to show up by now but to be honest i've gotten the feeling for a while most of the planners are pretty burned out on the whole deal. costs tons of money, gotta keep so much security around to keep the little e-tards from hurting themselves...

but yes the myspace is my usual go-to for DEMF info

let's be honest people that like going will go and people who think it's dumb won't. all we need to know is it's memorial day weekend at hart plaza, gonna cost $20/25 a day or $40/50 for the weekend and crazy people will run around

all my old demf buddies have grown up had kids and decided that sans the drugs they're not interested anymore...

anyone interested in adding me to their "let's all hang out at demf this year" group lemme know

In case anyone is curious, Paxahau has started announcing some of the performers for this year's DEMF.

A few well-known names on the list include: Afrika Bambaata, Benny Benassi, Carl Cox, Carl Craig, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Huckaby.

Check the Paxahau website or friend them on myspace for the full list.

But Prodigy is pretty kickass...looks like tickets are $20? Totally affordable!! I do believe I could go to that! :D:D Tickets on sale from Friday? Who's going?

The festival is indeed Techno oriented.. It is all various kinds though...

Well, there are many people on drugs there, perhaps more so than most other Detroit festivals, but I have never had a problem with any of those peoples... They generally stay to themselves and dance..

Normally..but when you figure that WE will spend $40 to goto DEMF (that's not what they call it any more whatever ) THEN it'ld be $40 more for US to goto the Prodigy show...but I HAVE Lenard Cohan Tix already ;)

..we WILL be at DEMF though...our old pals are insistent that we attend this year...but most likely Saturday.

For the most part the event is straight up techno, your not gonna get any industrial, unless they manage to book 1 industrial artist. one year they booked nitzer ebb...I was pissed when I found out. Its not really my thing although if I went with a big group it may be more fun, only for people watching and conversation though, the music is for sure not my thing.

As for the drug use, yes, there is alot, I dont care what anyone says. Alot of E and Acid mostly, the pot isnt so bad becuase cops are running around. I got asked several tines if I "was holding anything" from candy kids but it wasnt to bad.

Personally, I dont think you would enjoy yourself unless you went for social activity.

Really???

But those substances are readily available in just about any concert, club, or festival. If you don't do them, then you probably don't need to worry about those who do being a bother. The majority of incidents with people and drama are alcohol related more so than any other drugs.
