The evil fish Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 ... Only Flesh? Was thinking about booking them at the Ritz and want some feedback. Speaking of The Ritz and Circus Obscene.... I stopped in after doing a recording session last night and Nix, Jeff and Sandy really have that place looking good now - Jeff said he is bringing in subs for the sound system this week and things are looking really good up there. I believe next week is DGN night so I hope you all come by and check things out. I will be posting a coupon up soon. Sean

~kitty Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 hmmmm... I think a better question is, what local/semi local bands/acts would you like to see? What kind of music do they play, what kind of act? Do they have a following? And... do you prefer nights with well blended, same genre bands/acts? or would variety keep you on your toes? or annoy you? When you go to a club to see a band, do you like the parade of bands? (more than 4?) Or do you like less bands and more DJ? Less band mixed with performing acts and a DJ? ...just saying...

If they're awesome I don't mind giving up my time to see them perform. I like an even mix of everything to be honest though. Most people want as much time as they can get I think. Although really it's whatever the majority of the crowd wants since we're there to entertain them.
~kitty Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I like maybe three bands and a really kick ass DJ. I like to dance.
Scary Guy Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I like maybe three bands and a really kick ass DJ. I like to dance. Then you want a DJ because bands mean lots of people standing on the dancefloor watching the band. All the stage lighting would be active and the dancefloor lighting would be shut off, unless you like just dancing without any of that fancy crap. Although when Bella Morte rocks Earth Angel out if the venue is I-Rock and if I'm anywhere near the controls I throw on the mirror ball for slow dancing and make all the lights on the stage blue and low.
~kitty Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I guess people only dance to cover bands? I miss my FtK. On the 11th we have DJ Darks Choir coming out. It's his Birthday so that should be fun. We have us, and SS7. I was wondering if that was enough, because you KNOW the bar is flipping out about it. Bar mentality is to pack the night with bands. I hate that. I figure one more band/act. No more than two...and I was hoping to get some ideas from this crowd. I contacted a couple of acts (not bands) and I am waiting for their answer...but I wonder if that would throw off the crowd... Maybe I just care too much?
