Wow...you guys played something I requested...holy crap!

It's a sign! Too bad I missed it though, but looking over the list at least one out of the four songs I requested got played. Couldn't stand any of the other music so we left out of boredom . I TRIED to dance and have a good time, but after a solid hour of waiting around the dancefloor for something at least halfway decent to play (i.e. not the same oontz oontz oontz that sounds exactly like the last oontz oontz oontz song played), I had to settle for an okay remix of "Never Wanted to Dance" and then we left.

Playlist didn't look too bad from Saturday. After the other thread about Sat. night at CC, I was starting to wonder what the hell was going on in the DJ booth, LOL.

I guess the electro oontz oontz oontz oontz doesn't bother me all that much since I like Industrial, Gothic, AND House/Techno music evenly (Ibiza, anyone? ::smile::).

Promise to make it out to City again soon. Starting to have withdrawals! LOL. :)

Yeah the music was all over the place.

Well the majority of what was played was requested, I myself try to add newer stuff now and then to introduce people to artists/songs they may otherwise not hear.

:respect:

That's one of the jobs of any good DJ. Keep pushing the new stuff.

"God is a DJ" by Faithless (from Ministry of Sound)

Nice song. Trance however in most cases FAILS miserably at City Club. As much as some of us DJ's have tried to inject that style into sets, it clears a dance floor quicker than cheap beer turns to piss. Odd I know, as both VNV, Apop, Razed in Black, Juno Reactor, etc... use trance elements in their music as well. That said, "Insomnia" by Faithless and "Open Up" by Leftfield used to get a few spins wayyy back when. These tracks popularity were prior to my experience DJ'ing at City and I've personally never got either to 'work' at City in the last few years. Maybe it's time to try again ;)

I listen to trance at home, but usually unless I'm shitfaced, the last place I wanna hear it is at City Club.

I go to CC for gothic/industrial/ebm, occasionally it keeps things interesting to throw in a metal or punk song, but that's about the extent of it. Trance, house, and techno, imo, has no real place at CC, the second it comes on is the second I leave the dance floor.

Whatever the worth of the individual songs, the mix/sequence of them just wasn't happening. Who knows why - the energy just wasn't there.

Come on folks...me posting that song was not about necessarily wanting to hear trance at CC. I know better than to request trance at CC, LOL. It wouldn't be the DJs who would have a problem with it, but about 99% of the patrons would, LOL.

My point was the WORDS. I like the *words* and love the idea that a dance floor can heal hurts. The dance floor at CC (and other dance clubs) has notoriously been a place where I "heal my hurts."

I swear I could tell my life story using only songs. :)

Peace all!
