DJ Saint Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Not to sure how many people on the board are into old hot rots and rat rods. As for myself, big time into the whole car thing. The April issue of Car Kulture Deluxe has a nice write up on Combichrist front man Andy's '52 Ford Victoria. I remember Andy telling me years ago when he bought this ride and he's since fixed it up really well. The mags worth checking out for some amazing other cars as well. also here's a video of his car; http://www.shockhound.com/videos/355 Just thought I'd share
candyman Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 You jerk! I ran out of kleenex and lotion now! Maybe I will meet him and his car when I finish mine and drive out there...

candyman Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Ha! Btw, what kinda car you working on? '56 Plymouth Savoy...I think it might have had some sort of interior at one point...but the mice go to it so once I get all the poop and nesting out I can do the interior. It is impossible to find parts for so all the stuff I get is used race car and gasser crap from the boys in the local club...

But you know how it is, a car finds you, you don't find the car. Soon as the fun money comes back the search will increase a little more.

Soon as the fun money comes back the search will increase a little more. I will keep my eyes open for you...I could even sell you my beast if you want because my love is really for old Fords and Mercs that run the beautiful and fierce Flathead! Also, there is a place in Wisconsin called the Ford Barn and, if you like Ford and Merc and want an authentic Isky catalog with all of the original cam specs...that is the place to go. He even has one set of original Ardun heads. He has all of the body style you could ever want along with all the parts you could ever need. Alot of the cars are still in the condition that they were left in...most were 50's, 60's, and 70's hot rods!
Scary Guy Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I still say this place needs an automotive section. Either that or add it onto this one.

Msterbeau Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I keep trying to start one but it dies off. I like rat rods. Not that many of them are done "right" though. I see lots of hodge podges of old parts. (Waste of old parts if you ask me). I should go find something that's being tossed anyway and start a project. My problem is that I like a bunch of diametrically opposed genres of car types. A rat rod that can actually handle? That would be interesting.

Most of them have "newer" suspensions that came from newer versions of the car and have upgraded parts. I actually have a suspension program where you can alter parts and see how shit will handle. If I ever get my dream shop...it will be rat rods all the way. I know the people, including me, that can build and fabricate along with all the places where you can get parts from. Now I just need a shop. Start one...seems like there are enough car people here to tend it nicely...bust some heads!
Head Wreck Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 i'd love the room to restore a car, or rebuild a car to better spec. (i allways wondered if a KV6 engine will fit a TR7 and to prep it for fast road) UK laws are getting increasingly prohibitive to what you can and cannot do

I know a shop in Latvia that is always open for you to work in...and there is one in Germany but they are purely Honda heads so it might be difficult...
Head Wreck Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 i'm in the UK though. any mods to a chassis, like a new engine or suspension linkage and the car has to pas an IVA test before its allowed on the road
