I can tell you from experience that in cases like that, it needs to be spelled out by the courts or you'll be dealing with this crap till they turn 18. Both parents should have time with their kids and nothing should be preventing that.

Sucks having to deal with them but it helps having it on paper. If you don't have the documentation you have nothing to fight with.
