Onyx Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I laughed but this stung a little to watch because my job was pretty much outsourced (to India) leaving me nothing but scraps of work I couldn't make my bills on. I was paid by the amount of work so it forced me to have to resign. I can definitely relate with the job market sucking. We do live in interesting times.
candyman Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Yeah, my outlook is bad too since GM won't look at you unless your GPS is 3.5 or higher. Who cares that my scores in auto related classes are 4.0...they need someone with politically correct skills... Oh well, at least the Army isn't making promises like school did, just my chances, and is willing to pay me MONEY! Going into boot as an E3 would be nice...and maybe my epic charm combined with that uniform will help my love life...I would even take a goat at this point... I hear that the sperm banks and medical testing places are still "hiring" at this point...get to it!
Homicidalheathen Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Yup even telemarketing which is stupid. I hang up if I can't understand you. your lucky if I listen at all so....bad move. Some guy even used a fake name once to try to sound more 'white friendly' there was no way that was his name. telemarketing sent overseas is dumb.
Onyx Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 wanted to add - was looking through the comments for the vid and found this one: ""HAHA! I am a graphic and web designer. I recently started a house cleaning business since things are tough. I am making more money doing that. I know a plumber that's drowning in money. You better learn another trait all you professionals because your screwed, there's too many people out there doing the same shit and not enough blue collar workers."" and I do think there is a lot of truth to that. I am doing typing, court reporting transcription, plus a lot of little jobs (for example building a simple website for my dental hygienist who has had a loss of revenues too and she is also starting a little side job selling hand made candles, so wanted a site for her business). I really think that barter and small businesses and trading skills is the way things will have to go very soon. I'm also putting out a little garden. (We even used to do this in containers on our patio when we were in an apartment. You can actually have a nice little garden and grow a bit of food on your patio with a bit of effort). Best advice I ever got about making it when things are tough was that if you need $1000 it's much easier to make $100 from ten different sources than $1000 from just one.
Homicidalheathen Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 same here...3 stores closed in macomb mall in the past 6 months...I was talkin to the metro pcs dealer, he moved and is doing better but..I dont think it will stay open forever. That mall will close. I quit working at a salon and now help my friend with cleaning up homes and refinishing a bit, landscaping...its easier for me to walk than to stand in one spot. And well I don't pay taxes...I know that sux...shouldn't post it I suppose. If you work for merry maids you get frickin 7 something an hour but if you do a few houses yourself you can make 3x as much. and you only have to do a few a week. wanted to add - was looking through the comments for the vid and found this one: ""HAHA!
