And yes there are several in poverty who are at fault themselves, either from drug/alcohol use/abuse,but quite alot were put into poverty due to layoffs and such, definately this country was only meant for rich greedy people anyway.

I've seen this from the inside; I have a few friends in this sort of situation. Bridge cards, crack-dealing neighbors, trailer parks from hell - it's all there. One person I know hangs out in grocery stores on her day off. She offers to buy $70 worth of groceries for someone for $50 cash. She's poor enough to qualify for the food portion of the bridge card but not poor enough to qualify for cash assistance, so she has to do that to pay her utilities and put gas in her car. It's utter bullshit that she's set up like this, but she can't make enough to dig out of the hole she's in.

I think the worst part of it all is that, like my friend, the system rewards people who work less by paying their bills for them but doesn't reward people who are actively trying to better themselves. I understand that times are tough, but she's had to do this for years.

When will our government realize that we don't need more nanny laws or welfare programs? http://www.thelibertypapers.org/2009/05/18...ut-doesnt-work/

Some people genuinely need the assistance though. I think there should just be more regulation than there is.

As far as helping out the other countries goes we only do that when we want something from that country usually, even if it's just good PR.

You should have seen the system before Engler and Clinton reformed it. It did nothing to encourge people to get a job or better themselves. You could sit on your ass all yourlife and get food stamps, bills paid and cash in your pocket.

Remember many moons ago, when we donated all that grain to Russia? Cereal prices have been outrageous, ever since.

She should be careful, what she's doing is considered fraud by the state. They could actually charge her and send her to jail.

Thats only a small part of it. We also started paying farmers to not farm about then. The farmers bitched that the price of wheat was dismally low and that they could not make money. We had surpluses of grain and dairy products. So the feds started paying farmers to not plant their fields or to have fewer cows. This drove the price of wheat and dairy products up... depleted our surplus...

and now people forget that we used to be called the Cornucopia of the World. We have 19% of the worlds arable land for Christ sakes.

We could grow enough wheat and corn to feed the world. We dont. There would be no profit in it.

Other than we'ld be FUCKIN'-HEROES...& the Karmic benefits (whether you believe in a Life-after-death, or reincarnation)....to bad the peoples do not think of the whole world as a community...or of all the ethnic groups as ONE RACE (which we are.)...
