Tacohitts Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 This is what you get when mining metals and iron ore http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...sp=1&nopu=1 good luck cleaning this mess up.
jynxxxedangel Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 ..and it figures some old kook has bought the mountain, and wants to reopen the mine. Places like that should just be cleaned up, closed up, and forgotten about.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) They will never clean that mess up. It's a natural process that has been accelerated by exposure to air. The easy fix, filling in the old mines with something, say slag from coal burning power plants or something else that will fill in the old mines, makes for too much sense for anyone in the government to figure out. They are looking into ways of stoping the natural process? They want to stop oxygenation? Are they fucking insane? BTW, if they did reopen the mine and removed all the pyrite... the process would stop. So, reopening the mine might make a little sense. Edited June 12, 2009 by Gaf The Horse With Tears
