Here are some posters and signs that have appeared on the streets of London and Dublin. What are your thoughts? Do you think that this sort of in-your-face propaganda would ever be accepted in the United States? In another thread, Pomba Gira addresses the issue of how the swastika, a benign symbol, has been forever corrupted by the Nazis. Is it possible that in the future, we might view the "All-Seeing Eye" or Eye of Horus in the same light?

That first sign looks like a parody!

CCTV is becoming more and more prevalent, but I'm surprised they would advertise it so blatantly, almost TRYING to look like 1984...the eyes everywhere are just creepy and the style of art is sooo ....1984. What were they thinking?

At least with the British Government, they're telling you what's going on, with the US, they probably already to it, but won't ever tell us. *nervous laugh*

the more interesting responses will be by those who flaunt certain behaviours before the cameras. England is totally wired for CCTV; there are cameras everywhere in the major cities, especially London. do NOT pick your nose while walking down the street!

...isn't the all-seeing eye already on our $$$, or is that something else?

Yes, it is. It's pervasive in the United States and in other "First World" nations. Look at the CBS logo, the AOL logo. Keep your eyes open and you'll start to see it everywhere in its various incarnations.

I saw the All-Seeing-Eye...It was looking, at me looking at It, looking at me, looking at It, looking at me...etc.

As disturbing as these facts are, I have enough personal things to worry about-- rather than making myself even sicker worrying over the "big picture."

Carry on with your lives, people. Do the best you can do. Be the best you can be. Live with the confidence that you will be strong enough to survive, should the world make a change for the worse. It's bad, for both body and mind, to constantly obsess over such things.

P.S. Has anyone ever thought that perhaps "they" want us to worry, so we are conveniently weakened?

If you really had too much time on your hands and hacking skills, you could track where anyone goes, what they buy, and how much they spend in a day. Think about it.

CVS, Kroger, and many other stores have "buyer programs" to track you.

Credit cards and banks track your spending and the credit cards know what you've bought and where.

Spy satellites can focus upon an individual and with the infaray/other spectrums, can see you in your home.

Do I care? No, because I know that for the most part I am perpetually boring and not very amusing to watch. I also don't spend very much and shop at places that do less tracking.
