Black Sunday9 Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You do not have permission to post my picture on the internet. Besides, that's not my good side.
Paper Hearts Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 i was joking. i've been cracking up at your picture of "Frenchy".
Paper Hearts Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Thinking about it on the drive in: A good comparison of French and American cultures- Cuisine is a part of culture, and you know what they say, "you are what you eat".... French fare is well respected as one of the most tasteful and intricate styles of cooking, worldwide. American food is probably the most barbaric and unhealthy type available. People's food can be looked at as a microcosm for a better a understanding of thier societys.
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 People's food can be looked at as a microcosm for a better a understanding of thier societys. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah obviously. Duh. The U.S. needs to cut back it's dependance on foreign vegetable oil.

Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 That's why I eat a lot of twinkies.... wait I mean pie... I mean... what day is this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> c'est vendredi monsieur phee.
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 ...Chesht.... Dobja <{POST_SNAPBACK}> is that supposed to be polish? chesht - is slang for hello amongst younger people, but I don't think it's spelled like that, is it? Dobja? or is it french? I took French in high school and forget most of it, telling you it is friday is about as much as I remember.
phee Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Polish and yes you are correct about the spelling... I am sure that I am speeling Dobja wrong.
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 Polish and yes you are correct about the spelling... I am sure that I am speeling Dobja wrong. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what are you trying to say? Dobre? Damn I can't think of the spelling. Are you trying to say "day" ? Remember when this thread was about stupid french guys with berets? Those were the days.
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 "Good" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah that's what I meant dzien dobre is "good day" and I got it backwards when i was reading the post. this is some good trivia, making me think back to my childhood. got any more?
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 "Pa" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no clue. are you sure it's a word? or do you mean "po" which is "speak" ?
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 It is slang for "Bye" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i suck. how about "fuks" ? oops, I meant F U K S
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 It apparently means "gangsters". I went to Stan's grocery in Hamtramck and they have a big movie poster - so i asked the little old lady at the counter what she knew about fuks. She didn't mind - I actually got a discount on my pierogi.
Fierce Critter Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Da mi buzi = Give me a kiss. Da mi dupa buzi = Kiss my ass. Jak sie masz - How you doin? Smaczne = hmm... I'm not sure. Very good? Tasty? (from this point forward, all bets are off on spelling) Jenkuje - Thank you Proja = You're welcome Jezu Maria - Jesus Mary Mishka - Mouse (had a pet one) Czarnina - duck blood soup Umm.. that's about the sum total of my Polish. I think I'm forgetting a couple things I know... I'm so lame...
Black Sunday9 Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 (from this point forward, all bets are off on spelling) Jenkuje - Thank you . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah I think it is dzenkuje but I might be wrong. i suppose I could look it up but I have the day off of work and my feet are up. you ever hang out in hamtramck when you're in Michigan Fierce?
Fierce Critter Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I've only been back to Michigan twice since moving. Both short 4-day trips. No "hanging out" happening. And no visits until we move permanently. As for "hanging out" when I did live there, not really. My visits from Downriver into the city (including Hamtramck) were pretty much long enough to do the scheduled activity, then go back home. Things I've done in Hamtramck: Played open-mic nights (and a gig or two) regularly at the Hamtramck Pub; Stood in line for genuine Paczki at the Oaza bakery every Fat Tuesday (Farmer Jack's are BLASPHEMY and not to be confused with the real thing); Been to a couple coffee houses (names of which escape me and are probably closed at this point); Shopped at a store there that sells, amongst other things, Polish Runes. So, no, guess I couldn't say I "hang out", but I love that town and love an excuse to go there.
Fierce Critter Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Oh, and the very first time I ever saw a local band play anywhere in Detroit was Goober & The Peas at Paychecks.
Paper Hearts Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Ich wensen te ete ziest, niet. Nederlander: "I do not want to eat shit". (just thought i'd get in on the action)
Paper Hearts Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Also: Keshoren Kal-shaved clean (Friesian Dialect) PC Vozen-really nasty cyber sex (also Dutch, Friesian Dialect)
Fierce Critter Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Why is that drat Disney song, "It's a Small World" running through my head now??
