actually electrons spread out past their orbit so there really isn't an empty vacuum in the space between protons, is there?

I'm not a quantam physics expert so that is a legit question I wanted to know since you posted this.

afaik, electrons exist in a cloud of "potential" around the nucleus of an atom, at a given distance which is determined by the nucleus size. the electrons don't actually ":exist" at any one point, with any one set of direction/acceleration vectors, in a way, similar to the "schroedinger's cat" theory. however, the space between the orbit cloud, and the actual nucleus (containing protons & neutrons) is actually empty space, with nothing in it. (btw, the protons & neutrons are connected in the nucleus, the electrons orbit - protons= + charge, neutrons= no charge, and electrons= - charge... fyi) =)

i could be misinformed, but that's what i remember... :innocent
