So, everytime I turn on my computer, now, an error message pops up. I don't know when it started, because sometimes it pops up behind other windows, sometimes its not right when the computer cuts on...but its the SAME message: System error '2146697211 (800c0005)": System error: -2146697211 its got something like looks similar to this: icon13.gif Before the message, in the window... Oh, and I noticed that eversince I realized I was getting this message, my Netgear wireless card hasn't been working, either. Its like I've inserted a new pice of harware without installing the software... its the damnest thing. i can't even unistall the old software, to install the new software.... someone please help me.

It looks like an XML Send error.

Can you copy/paste your log for me?

Also -

What anti spyware, antivirus and firewall protection are you using? What has changed with the computer prior to this starting?

Start-->Run-->"sfc /scannow"

Also, if Win XP--try your System Restore.

Start-->Accessories-->System Tools-->System Restore. Pick a restore point that you recall the system working at that date.

That's just the simple "who knows, maybe this could work" type stuff.

Otherwise, you need to know what resource the system is calling for when you are getting that error.

ok, the startup error message has been fixed. Come to find out it was a remnant of a program I uninstalled trying to start up... so that was nipped in the bud.

The wireless card issues is still unresolved but i think that I've figured out how to fix it....

Edit to add that if anyone else has computer issues, I suggest bringing them here, so's not to have 20 short threads cluttering up the forum lol

Maybe a mod could edit the title to reflect this. ;)

Answer: Get a Mac.

LoL, no seriously, something is mucking up your startup ... usually solution is restore (handy if you have XP or above with the built in restore). Usually junk gets left behind on Windows unless you know how to manually delete every little thing (which is painstaking and time consuming).

I just bought another Windows machine myself (thankfully avoided Vista and it came preinstalled with XP) for school, so I'm back to dealing with all the Windows issues again.

ccleaner is a good tool for cleaning up the registry and removing all the little extras that get left behind.

Hey guys... a friend of mine needs help..

here's his website he's working on:

http://www.mobileholes.com/

the issues he's having is that it doesn't look right in Forefox, but he says it looks fine in IE... what he needs to know is how to make it so that generally, it works in both...

If you want to speak to him directly, PM me and I'll give you his Yahoo screen name (yes, I have permission... he actually asked me to do this for him)

Question about HDMI Cables.

Here's the deal, Im considering getting a new HD 1080p LCD TV for my bedroom.

Found 1 I like that has the ability to switch from a tv to a computer monitor, and also can display pics from a cam and so on.

The tv comes with 3 HDMI inputs, and every other kind of input you would ever need.

I have found this same tv in different places for varying $ amounts.

1 place had it for like $150.00 more because it comes with a HDMI cable.

I have searched and seen prices for HDMI cables from $25.00 to $190.00

So, here's my questions:

WHY the HUGE price difference for HDMI prices?

Is a certain BRAND or KIND of HDMI cable BETTER than another, if so which is best, and WHY?

Where is best to get quality HDMI cables for REASONABLE prices?

Any help would be appreciated, and THANX.

Yes, there is a reason for the price differences in HDMI cables.

Monster cables are usually the better ones.

Well, if I had a chance to make a better choice in purchasing a laptop, I wouldn't have bought a Dell. I find it a bit slow. I would have bought a Mac but they are damn expensive.

      About to head up to Roseville to return this rental and pick up my truck from the auto shop.  It is supposedly sporting a newly fabricated frame rail...I don't think they are referred to as "chassis" anymore as I see the confusion in shop owner's eyes when they ask me if I'm looking for "body work?".   But I do find it interesting that I told the owner that I worked direct with OEM parts and yet he still wrote me up an invoice with overpriced OEM parts from companies I used to host at the place I used to work for.  With that said, I'm expecting a stellar job for the amount I paid.   ...else, there will be some talk negotiations.

      ~~~~~ Definitely wishing you luck.  Do enjoy yourselves.   But I have to admit, the first thing that came to mind was does roadside assistance reach the desert? 😬
      ~~~~~ Yeah, it's like something happened to my metabolism this past Winter and when I came out of hibernation, that AARP Join Request started looking like something to check into.

      This 👆 definitely goes with what I said in my other post - getting old sucks. Seems like *everything* takes longer and takes more energy out of me than it used to. Really need to work on my diet and exercise, I've found the older I get, the more important those things have really become...
