LONDON – President Barack Obama was praised Friday as a worthy Nobel Peace Prize winner although many admirers said the award was based on his potential, not his accomplishments.

Just goes to show you that there is more asskissin going on in this world because of WHO Obama is, which is the first african american president. He comes from Chicago, which has had a lot of corruption so I am sensing a direction here. Not that getting the Prize was his fault, but that things are not what they seem in this world anymore. Everyone is so fascinated with stardom, and now they are putting him up on a pedestal before anything is accomplished. Not a good thing to do as now the pressure will be immensely on Obama's shoulders to produce results.

Don't get me wrong... I do support him and like the direction that he has stated... but he has not earned this, this is something that ones deeds should earn, not someones promises.

He does seem to be at least taking it with some degree of humility... but then again.... how could he not?

I agree. This is really weird. It feels really premature, shines a light on how liberal the committee is, and cheapens the idea of the prize. I like Obama but I still think it's far too early to judge if he deserves something like this...and this should NEVER go to someone who is not 100% worthy.

Imo, the Nobel Peace Prize has been cheapened ever since Mr. Manbearpig Hunter (i.e. Al Gore) won it a few years back.

For the record, he STILL has not found Manbearpig nor has he proved that Manbearpig exists.

The prize is a joke now, something in place for liberals to kiss other liberals' asses.

I honestly thought this was a joke. I don't watch tv, listen to or read the news. I have chosen not to because it makes me too angry and depressed; ignorance is bliss. Yes, I have chosen the right path. The current state of things have left me with that feeling like after being in the 7.0 earthquake. It was so surreal, like it wasn't really happening. It's just a horror movie, right? This simply can't be our country, our world. I prefer my escape from reality until the world comes to its senses.
