faerywoman19 Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Does anyone know what the laws are in Michigan reguarding exotic pets? What is considered "Exotic", the maximum number of animals you can own, etc... I now own four lizards, two bearded dragons, a water dragon, and an orphaned iguana my uncle found on the side of the road yesterday. I am keeping my scaley friends weither The Man likes it or not, I am just curious if they are on the no-no list.
SomeDanGuy Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Those laws are such a bitch to research. I've tried finding the laws on exotic cats here, and it was horrendous. The bearded dragons and iguana are certainly fine. Did you get the water dragon in a reputable pet store? If so, I doubt it's illegal
faerywoman19 Posted June 8, 2005 Author Posted June 8, 2005 Every animal I own was cast off from someone else. My uncle gave me the water dragon, no idea where he got it.
Nienna Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I know people with more than you have. Nothing you have is particularly fringe so I think you should be fine... but I don't KNOW that..
soothsayer Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I knew someone that owned an alligator in Mich. I don't know how long that lasted but he use to put it on a leash and bring it to parties. I say, get whatever you want and keep it hush hush. :whistling
Ginevra Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 You should definately research whether you're over the limit or not. Most cities/county/states have laws about how many of a specific type of animal you can have to avoid kennel type situations within city limits. One town I lived in while in Minnesota, the law stated you could have 3 puppies or kittens, adult cats or adult dogs or any combination thereof (IE 2 canines and 1 feline, for instance.) Anything more than that and you would need a kennel license. I don't know about the water dragon but with the iguanas you should be fine. As with Nienna, though, I don't KNOW that for a fact. I would also try to find out where your uncle got it from.
faerywoman19 Posted June 9, 2005 Author Posted June 9, 2005 My father owned about six bearded dragons and two alligators at one point. I have the four lizards two cats and a dog. Still haven't been able to find any state websites with laws or guidelines but I know for sure that the trailer park wouldn't be too happy with me if they knew. My place is pretty big, they are not stacked on top of each other or anything but they love to limit what you can do in your own house.

cptdeath Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 :fear Hi my name is :fear Hi my name is I have 2 cats two dogs an anole a geko and a giant australian carpet python his name is rakanishu he's 11 feet long about 75 pound thats rare because he's a male and males get5-7 feet over several years females have been known to get any were from 6-8 feet long hes about seven years old yes he could potentialy kill a small child and maybee eat it to Of cours I have allways taken my responsabilty for my pets rather seriosly "of course he doesn't bite I'm a go damn proffesional" anyone who says they like snakes usually develops a sudden phobia around this one I raised him so I know every thought that passes through his mind by looking hes no real danger in fact he's rather tame. Theres these sick fangs he's got theres 3 on each side top and bottom no one really has any info on this species in depth I saw him streath them out when he was yawning one day. he yawns but not for 5 years did I see those nightmare fangs His head opens up so his jawe are flatt the fangs are 8inches each and the ones inthe middle of each set were10 inches. There thick as a frenchfry perfectly clear like glass He never uses them except once whe i fed him a rabbit they slid into the rabbit kinda slow like big needlesbut thicker they remind me of a bluegills dorsal fin any way blood slowly sprayed across hiss inclosure in different directions like if you wrote your name in the snow taking a leak all slow and steady kinda sick I allways feel compassion for his food I feel that to die for something else to live is natural that it's destruction is honered by the fact that it's died with purpose of course who to say its right or wrong. Fu@k em if thay can't take a joke I hope that when I die I would have the honer of having my flesh consumed so that my spirit will travel on in the spirit of those who consumed me. of course it's just a pipe dream no one I love would eat a portion of my body to honer my wish. Huh , it suddenly occured to me how bad that is blasphamy to my roman cathlic family. you know couse of that service were you eat the embodiment of christ that bread sopposedly a symbol but I thought of that idea on my own and look some one else beat me to it I deeply believe in respecting my family honering my family we have a difference in beliefs and I highly value that.So do thay Different funamentals but still first is reality. family is reality :fear
