So basically, they're making aboveboard and legal whats been going on all along anyway.

Precisely.

Its just the supreme court putting their rubber stamp of approval on it, that got everyones' attention, and pissed everyone off.

As though this was something new lol.

It's been going on for a kabillion years now.

You are right I do not blame Bush for this... I blame the people he appointed.

Exactly, it's not like he had a crystal ball to refer to, and warn him that a few years later these people would make this decision.

I agree... that being said, one could restructure a lot of where the accountability for the past has been pointed. Including Obama

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

Last thing I knew the language of the First Amendment said this:

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And (the last time I checked) corporations and non-profit organizations were made of people. I don't see how anyone can disagree with this ruling. Government does not have unlimited powers with a few limited exceptions. Government has NO power with a few limited exceptions.

Yeah, this ruling means that Exxon/Mobil and ABC/Time/Warner can advertise politically. But so can all the mom-and-pop shops all across the country. More people get a voice now. Fewer restrictions. I, personally, choose not to watch more than an hour of tv a week (I'm addicted to Chuck, more specifically Yvonne Strahovski) and I often watch it online instead of on the idiot box. If I'm interested in a subject then I go and do some research and ask questions of people I know. I start discussions with people whose intellect I respect. So what if some company gets to say some stuff? Hell, if I am actually exposed to one of their advertisements it might give me an idea to research.

Now, if we could get some people in office that the majority of this country agrees with (Scott Brown may be a good start, we'll see how he votes) then we could work on fixing some of the higher-level bullshit. Like that thing I hate so much: tax breaks for medical insurance. I can hear the gasp now, and it's glorious. (let's not clog the thread with Health Care crap, pm me if you like)

We may not like what someone else has to say, but that doesn't mean we can take away their right to say it.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
