Wow, that's quite a welcome. Thank-you all. Sorry I've taken so long to reply.

I'm actually not from Detroit, Michigan, or even the US ... but I am going to be in town next week for a scientific conference, and have worked out that the hotel I'm staying in is about half a mile away from the City Club venue, so figured I might as well get some clubbing in while I was there.

I am currently located in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, which is where I'm from.

I'm studying an MS in computer science, focusing on bioinformatics (the conference I'm going to is the biggest bioinformatics conference in the world).

I'm not married, and have no kids (though have dated a few girls who did ... which was ... challenging).

I'm theoretically single, but in practice not. (complicated)

Oh, and I'm 24, though I look a bit younger.

I joined the board so I could meet a few people online, so I would have people to talk to when I go to City Club. I can be a bit shy about approaching people irl.

I'm also more often seen chatting on http://www.darklight.co.za, which is a board for South African goths/dark alternatives, etc, and fairly active.

Anyway, it's nearly two in the morning here, and I've just realised that a very large, famous marathon, which may cut me off from getting home, is going to commence in about 3 hours, and I must get home before they close the roads off.

I'll chat a bit more tomorrow.

Check this thread to see who is going this weekend, and then maybe look at their Gallery pictures to try to recognize some people. You could also post a picture of yourself if you have one to help us recognize you.

What hotel are you staying at? We may be able to give you better directions than what you could find online, since the streets of downtown Detroit are absolute chaos.

Bioinformatics, huh? Wow, that's an exciting field now and it's getting bigger by the year. I hope to someday learn some basics of it =)
