So, I'm sure many of you DGNers have recalled my major interest in having a hedgehog as a pet (that has been effective since the spring of 2008). Well, thanks to the help of phee, I was finally able to go through with my wishes and get a hedgehog on Tuesday.

His name is Clover and he's 8 weeks old.

He was awesome on the way home and when he got home too...running around in his wheel and eating.

But he spent all day Wednesday curled up. Now...hedgehogs are nocturnal, but when night time came around...he still remained sleeping. I took the breeder's advice and took him out of his cage, but he wouldn't uncoil from his defensive ball. So yesterday, I took him out again and let him relax in my lap (another piece of advice from the breeder) and he eventually uncoiled.

Now, he still winces away from my hand at first, but after a little coaxing he crawls onto it.

Anyways...I'm done gushing...here are some pictures! (For those who haven't seen the ones on my FB, haha)

I also am a huge hedgy fan, I have owned 2. one salt and pepper, madam Chub Chub (like yours), the other was my dream (mamal) pet since 6th grade, an albino named Tobe. If you need any info on how to treat them or anything, I would be more than willing to help, also check out a site called chinsandquills.

Very teh adorable. :-)

Between my daughters wanting one and seeing yours and doing a bit of reading on them... I might consider making my home available for one. Not right away though.

They are cool pets, easy to take care of and not horribly smelly like hampsters/rats. Plus the are just to cute when they ball up.

Hampsters, huh? I don't know, maybe they are stinky, but hamsters, if you take care of them, don't smell very much. I mean, if you never clean their cages or feed them or give them water and they die, it gets pretty noisome in there. Hamsters are less offensive, I think, than are even gerbils (which are best kept in pairs).

Rats and mice, on the other hand, are very odoriferous, though not in the way that things in the weasel family are.

Clover is adorable. I still favor, though, that opossum that crapped in my sleeve. That was the cutest shit ever!

I saw a hedgehog in the wild once.. they are sweet little animals.. but at the time i didn't fuss with it because yeah he was curled up, and i don't know just how easily it is to get stabbed by their quills if you handle em... never thought they'd make good pets though! Maybe I should get one!
