Onyx Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 New documentary from PBS (I've been anxiously awaiting the release and it's finally available). "The Edge of Dreaming' will haunt you. One night filmmaker Amy Hardie dreamed that her beloved horse, George, had died. She awoke and was horrified to find that the dream had come true. Not long after that, Hardie dreamed she would die at age 48. Since Hardie's 48th birthday was around the corner, thus began a frightening year for the artist, wife and mother, who set out to discover what causes dreams and whether they can really predict the future. The result, The Edge of Dreaming, is a fascinating and emotional documentary that captivated me from start to finish. Granted, I'm a person who has very vivid dreams, but Hardie humanizes her eerie story in a way that transforms her film into something between a science doc and a horror flick." http://content.usatoday.com/communities/popcandy/post/2010/08/tonight-on-tv-the-edge-of-dreaming-will-haunt-you/1 Since she had the financial resources and time to explore many angles, it was fascinating to see how she dealt with the whole situation, exploring neuroscience, psychotherapy (which did not prove helpful) and finally visiting a shaman. Her interview and filmmaker statement on the site is especially interesting (but don't read or watch those before watching the film, as there are quite a few spoilers in there). You can watch it here until November: http://www.pbs.org/pov/edgeofdreaming/watch.php
