We'll see. They've done this sort of thing countless times in the past and then either canceled the press conference/announcement or talked about something completely different. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm very interested to see what it's all about...

Nope. What they announced was a new form of life here on Earth. Still a absolutly huge finding, but no, they did not find ET.

Not just a new form of life, but a life form that has no kinship with any other life form on the planet. The implications of this *are* huge. We now know that what was previously thought to be impossible - the incorporation of arsenic into DNA - is, in fact, possible. Titan, anyone?
