This is just typical police state behavior.

I'll tell you if you live with some one getting any kind of radiation therapy then don't go through a toll on your way into DC. If they have radiation detectors then you will be detained.

Actually the same hold true for Canada. My step mother has cancer and was detained for 9 hours trying to reenter because she was radio active. She is not pleasant on the eyes so that probably explains why she isn't complaining about cavity searches.
