Wow, where to begin on this one......

My dad had gotten a woman named Dottie pregnant while my mom was pregnant with me. She had a son, named Dennis. My dad did the right thing by paying his child support and trying to see his son. I say trying, because Dottie's dad and brothers hated him for getting her pregnant. He did everything he could to make things right. She would sneak away with Dennis and meet up with my dad so that he could spend time with his son.

When I was 21, I found out that Dennis actually existed, and that my mom knew the whole time. My sister and I were finally going to meet our brother-a brother that we never knew we had. Two weeks before he was to fly from Florida to Baltimore to see us, he died. His wife was pregnant. She was also a drug addict. Dennis' wife gave birth to this beautiful baby boy, named Dennis John. My dad went to Florida to see him when Dennis John was 2 1/2 years old. He was having a faulty heart valve replaced. Dennis John knew who my dad was, even though he had never met him before. My dad was elated.

My dad came back from Florida with such joy and pride filling him up! He was a grandad! It was bittersweet. My mom got a phone call 2 days later: Dennis John had died. The devastation felt in our home was unbelievable. My dad was on his knees, screaming. It was a wound that just never healed. It even caused him to avoid getting close to my son.

I just got back from my parents' place. I'm not sure what to say or how to act. My dad sat me down and told me that he ran into the uncle of Dennis John's mother.

It was all a lie! Dennis John is alive!!

Don't ask how. I don't know. She lied to everyone. He is alive!! :tear My nephew is 13 or 14 years old, and she is in jail for heroin possession and distribution for at least 5 years. She has been claimed unfit by the state. My nephew is living in Florida with his grandparents. My dad is meeting with the uncle tonight to get more details. If it can be arranged, dad wants to see Dennis John. I told Wayne that I want to give him the plane ticket as a birthday gift. I will go with him if he needs me to go.

I'm just so happy.....

As someone who has a half sister that he has never met... That is such cool news. Bren, you should go too, if you can. It may be the closest you ever get to knowing your half brother.

Wow that is great, i am so happy for you Brenda, i have a half sister and a niece/nephew in Cali i have never met, my dad never tried with either of us to do the right thing, it is great ot see that man who tried so hard to be good is finally getting a very just reward. I wish all of you the best and hopefully this is the end to alot of hurt and frustration.
