Got stopped at the border yesturday. I think the reason they singled us out was the contents of my trunk and the fact I look goth and was listening to Techno.

He even asked why I carry so much in my trunk like it is any of his buisness. I do kinda look like an S/M B/D whore heh heh but still....I only carry it because I am absent minded. I forget to pack stuff at the last minute.

And my drums.....I have allot in my trunk. Then they found the baggie of Salvia Divinorum and my bong.....(Legal). That kinda got him going....until I told him I grew it myself and used it as an herb for recepies. Idiot.

This other lady they singled out looked like a hooker. I don't think they care so much about terrorism as they do the moral standing of people.

They let me go after 10 min but still I feel picked on.

To avoid that once I and a friend of mine did the neutral makeup, pale sweater with jeans thing and crossed coming home. We'd been in Toronto for the weekend shopping and had a TON of clothes. We'd taken off the tags though and were hoping not to have to pay customs. They stopped us, searched the car, searched us, made us wait inside this little building while they sent drug dogs through the car, and finally let us go after nearly an hour. I donno if we looked too "good" or what!

Yah I wish they did care more about terrorism and less about you getting away with something fun. Like smoking a little refer now and then. And shopping. Oh the horror of it all! Geez. They treated you like crap. And you pay taxes!

Sorry to hear that HH. =( Unfortunately , lacking manpower and technology to really "screen" everyone fairly, they have to rely on profiling, regardless of what their press releases say.

Being a whiteboy crossing the Mexican border is pretty simple for instance, not so for people that look Hispanic at times. (i know you didnt mean mexico im just making a, perhaps poor example, i apologize)

People that look "alternative" are more likely to be stopped, just due the negative social connotations. "Cant judge a book by its cover..." I wish. =(

The world we live in, unfortunately. =( Just gotta try and take it one day at a time. =)

When me and my hubby would cross over to Windsor we never had a big problem. Asked what we were doing and how long we'd be. But when I moved up here we were stopped at customs for two hours. They had went through all my shit - all my luggage and my whole vehicle tryin to find anything that would deny us entry. Even though I just said I was visiting his family - not moving. They took the cat food cuz it had animal by products that their goverment doesn't use and views it as dangerous. So my poor cat had no food till the next morning. And I had two cartons of smokes - both mine - but since I was with a Canadian they tried to make him pay the duty on them. I thought the whole process was a fucking waste of time. Two hours to search through a Ranger?!! Come on.. The only thing that really pissed my hubby off was the fact that they wouldn't let him call anyone to tell them we've been delayed. That sent him in a fit cuz they were treating us like potental criminals.
