What are your suggestions for the best movies of all time?

Please list no more than 10 (if possible)

Feel Free to list less than 10

the idea being "best" by some critera to do with the film, not say "becasue it reminds me of my first date" or some such.

These are the ones that immediately came to mind and are in no particular order (and this may help me in compiling a list for someone).

Listing a handful of my personal favorites though some of them could fall into a "best movies of all time" list.

1. The Third Man (1949)

2. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (1966)

3. World's Greatest Sinner (1962)

4. Stalag 17 (1953)

5. Breathless (1960)

6. The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933)

7. Wings of Desire (1987)

8. Lolita (1962)

9. Night Of The Hunter (1955)

10. A Thousand Clowns (1965)

5. The Princess Bride (1987)

6. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

7. The Grapes of Wrath (1940)

8. Full Metal Jacket (1987)

9. Wall Street (1987)

I think i'll weight them like this:

1-5 = 3 points

6-10 = 1 point

(Total 20)

If you say "no particular order" then:

1-10 = 2

(total 20)

So by that measure (so far) the "master list" would look like:

1. All About Eve (1950)

2. Clockwork Orange (1971)

3. Splendor in the Grass (1961)

4. Goodfellas (1990)

5. The Princess Bride (1987)

6. The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933)

7. Wings of Desire (1987)

8. Lolita (1962)

9. Night Of The Hunter (1955)

10. A Thousand Clowns (1965)

(having no way (yet) to "tie break" the movies that are all at 2 each, having to pick randomly until we get more data)

In no particular order....

1. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966)

2. Repo Man (1984)

3. Fantastic Planet (1973)

4. Tampopo (1985)

5. The Piano (1993)

6. Kill Bill vol. 1 (2003)

7. Young Frankenstein (1974)

8. Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)

9. Madame Sata (2002)

10. Quadrophenia (1979)

... oops, I missed the "English language part". I seriously don't feel like coming up with anything else right now so my two furrin ones will have to stay for the moment. Sorry. And I'm not tryna be some kind of film snob... these are the 10 best films 'cos I happen to like them best, and they all resonate deeply with me on multiple levels. So there!

I'm not sure I can manually keep this going anyway, actually I know i cant, so probably should just turn it into a "list 10 favorite movies" type thread, with all the other crap I have going there's no way I can keep this updated by hand.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
