As horror is my favourite genre, I'm going to find it difficult to limit my list to just ten, but here it goes:

This is going to be difficult to name just ten and with a label that is just "horror" (soooo many genres of horror) As it is my favorite genre by far.

I dont know how to rate this list...As I have horror movie favorites, and movies that have had the most effect on me which makes them a different kind of favorite, as well as loving movies for visual effect and what not...oh god this is hard. Also alot of movies are labled horror but really arent (they are shock or arthouse)...

That is a very ruff list. Tried to include several sub genres as well as some newer movies mixed in with older ones. I love horror movies more than I love music so its very hard to pick... I think the Original Nightmare on Elm Street should be on my list but I dunno.

EDIT: For me to give a top ten for movies of any genre is pretty much impossible as I believe if you have a favorite movie, you havent seen enough movies...These are movies I feel are must see films and have done something great for the genre.

1. The Original Nightmare (84 ish, I'm to lazy to look it up) - I think it scares me the most because EVERYONE HAS TO SLEEP. *nods*

2. Puppet Master (1989). Those little puppets scare the shit out of me, especially the one with the big hands and the little head... fucking freaky.

3. The Shinning (80)- that bathtub scene still does it every time.

4. Marebito (2005ish)- if you haven't seen it, and you love horror, you should.

5. Deep Red (74?) - my favorite from Argento (though I think he is highly overrated).

6. Nightbreed (80-- need I say more).

7. Hellraiser (87, like NB, need I say more?)

8. Creepshow one and two (mid late 80s) -. This is more just like comfort food for me. I loved them growing up. I watched them often and could not decided between the thing under the stairs or "thanks for the ride lady' as being my favorite.

9.Troll (86)- Yes I know how bad it is, but its bad GOOD. Like Time Bandits. This like Creepshow is my horror comfort food from when I was young.

10.Pan's Labyrinth (2007?). Though it is by no means a horrorHORROR film, it was stunning and the sawing off the leg scene was the first time in a long time I caught myself almost unable to look at what was happening on screen.
