Destroit Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44133994/ns/us_news-life/ The footage is freaky, it almost looks like a prop in an old fashioned movie or something. Every time I see it and it's about to topple over, my heart gets that unpleasant sinking feeling. Edited August 14, 2011 by Chernobyl
Simon Bar Sinister Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) there was a similar event in Montreal about 4 weeks back, only the stage rigging fell away from the crowd instead of onto the crowd. there were a few injuries, but no one died there. ~Tszura~ Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Damn. This is exactly why I don't like to get on fair rides that flip fast, or go hi. Very sad.
TitsMcGee Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 gives new meaning to the term deathmetal.I know bad joke..sad story... It would have been ironic if it was deathmetal, but it was a country concert.
Strange Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I saw footage on the news of this, it was very crazy watching it but it looks so scary. May those who perishsed rest on the other side.
Destroit Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) gives new meaning to the term deathmetal.I know bad joke..sad story... ROFL. I felt dirty for laughing just now :. Damn. This is exactly why I don't like to get on fair rides that flip fast, or go hi. Very sad. What's ironic is that NONE of the other rides or anything on the fairground collapsed, there was hardly any damage dealt to any of the other structures. Experts believe it was a random 70-90 mph that blew in and hit JUST the stage, knocking it over. It would have been ironic if it was deathmetal, but it was a country concert. I figured havoc meant it was "death metal" because the stage was made out of metal scaffolding, which then killed people. Edited August 15, 2011 by Chernobyl
n0Mad Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 This is why Detroit claims they shut down Theatre Bizarre, because the structures were not inspected by building and fire inspectors to see if they were up to code, and the city feared an accident like this happening. Which, I'm willing to bet the state fair structure was up to code and just failed in high winds. I'm guessing TB structures were probably sturdier than code and may have actually stood up to that. *shrug* I guess we'll never know.
Enishi Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It's stuff like this that makes me avoid some of the rides I see at the fair in my hometown.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 same shit happened today at Pukkelpop in Belgium: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44192782/ns/world_news-europe/#.Tk2C3l3ayus
taysteewonderbunny Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 same shit happened today at Pukkelpop in Belgium: http://www.msnbc.msn...e/#.Tk2C3l3ayus Great. So the first effects of enhanced global warming are killing all the hippie/granola festival going people first? There's proof against the efficacy of karma.
