Iris Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 There's nothing disturbing about me eating chicken with no pants on, watching Antichrist, at all... So far it's a decent yet depressing movie, but I'm only halfway through. Come to think of it, I haven't worn pants thusfar for any of my movie viewings. This is a tradition I plan to upkeep for the month!!!
DJ Nocker Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Surprisingly enough, the FTV's for me this year have been pretty good for the most part so far :D
Destroit Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I think I lost the challenge because I got so far behind. Not doing the "list" thing so much, but I do plan on watching some good ass horror this October as much as I can, so whenever I see something, I'll post it individually

Destroit Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Meh, finished Antichrist. Not as impressed as I thought I would be. I felt as though the director really put a lot of lean into points that shouldn't have been placed so far, he was also off on a few things when taking important shit into consideration such as history, science and sheer logic. There were some points and symbolism that I though were RIGHT on and absolutely great, only to be contrasted by the others which were a bit convoluted. The first half I noticed was probably the most intriguing, and after that it sort of began to drop off for me.

phee Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I need to get myself back on track this weekend... had a lot of work and took a few nights off from watching.
killyosaur Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Its a slow burner, I enjoyed it though. Agreed. Loved the opening sequence and there are a couple of bits later on that really got things moving, but it does take it's time to build up to the climax. Well done, well acted film.
killyosaur Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Er, can Troll Hunter really be considered horror? From everything I've read about it, I got the impression that it wasn't, which is why I have been putting off watching it (and I really want to see that movie).

I thought the same thing, I asked the guy that is running the challenge, he said he would consider it allowed, His reasoning being that "Jaws" isnt considered a horror on IMDB either but clearly is alot of peoples favorite horror. And troll hunter has been in several horror movie magazines such as "rue morgue". Although im not sure if im going to count it, I will probably take it off, still debating.

I get that, it is problematic. I say that if it is allowed, keep it, I may just wait until I have completed the challenge or November to check out Troll Hunter, just because it is so problematic.

Silence of the lambs is also considered to be just a thriller, so...its complicated, lol
killyosaur Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Silence of the lambs is also considered to be just a thriller, so...its complicated, lol yeah, was also thinking about American Psycho, which I always saw as satire, or black comedy, but is sometimes categorized as horror.
DJ Nocker Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 yeah, was also thinking about American Psycho, which I always saw as satire, or black comedy, but is sometimes categorized as horror. Horror comedies are welcome. Army of Darkness counts as it is part of the "evil dead" trilogy and is obviously a horror comedy. But it is not tagged as horror.
wormsinwombs Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I was wondering about Troll Hunter too...What about salo I saw it was on someones list of what they consider horror but imdb didn't lable as such but it doesn't sound like horror does it really count? ahhh It feels like I'm so far behind right now!
Guest Megalicious Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Is anyone else going to the Three Corpses Circus Indie Fest? I went last year and loved it.
DJ Nocker Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Several people I know from the imdb boards have already finished, crazy kids! Im almost half way :D
phee Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Several people I know from the imdb boards have already finished, crazy kids! Im almost half way :D I am within a couple days.... got really busy at home and did not have time to watch much.
