Media is over there at the moment.  Crap happens pretty regular just sort of "the western attention span" generally doesn't pay much attention.  Post-france they are at least for now paying attention. The US media especially doesn't care about the non-oil countries, non-european countries.  (Asia / Africa)

It is sad.  But globally things are better now than they ever have been (on the scale of decades).
