Hot topic sux....theres so many other places to find better quality clothing. I certainly didn't get my vinyl skirt there. Noir leather is fairly good, lip service isn't bad but some of thier stuff isn't all that good either. Good "gawth" clothes arn't cheap unfortunuatly.

Good point. I've always been a fan of second hand items.

I saw 3 cool items at hot topic the other day. a superman t, a superman jacket and a black trench coat.

I have no preference of stores. I could care less if I look goth or not. I like the color black. I listen to Apoptygma Berzerk. I don't really think about the word "goth" that often and I have no aim or style strategy when I shop for clothes.

I used to spend lots of money on italian clothes, none of it was goth, but it was mostly black, I loved the brand Maxini and still have a few shirts.

Milan really is the world's fashion center. LA or New York are more into a grungy look that seems really tacky and fake (contrived) wherever worn...last I was in NY people wore used t's as if they were proper attire simply because they'd paid $75 for these articles at some deseigner's shop in the East Village... London is still on a retro kick (for years, actually), which is really like saying "we've got no ideas to contribute, as of now". I'd say that Paris has some really cool shit but i don't think you want to get into that...

Hot Topic does have a few cool looking and well priced things; Brenda argued that the qaulity of their clothing was, no matter what, poor, although. -I question whether they sell sweatshop made clothing.

Check your the thrift shops for trench coats, man. I found an awesome Polish made trench, last time I was at the place that I go to.

When I come back, promise me that you'll take me to the thrift store that you go to, Paul.

i actually don't mind hot pocket. i like to look around it - i can't really wear their clothes but i do see cute skirts and shoes and jewelry and "novelty" stuff.

ok, im very confused. i went to the store today and bought a whole bunch of Hot Pockets. they dont seem very goth to me. neither did the store, for that matter. it was bright, well-lit and had mainly foodstuffs. there was Muzak playing somewhere and alot of old people everywhere. the people that worked there were wearing brightly colored smocks. i didnt see anyone in black.

definitely not goth, if you ask me.

how are these Hot Pockets supposed to help me goth out? do i eat them? cause ive eaten a ton of Hot Pockets before i ever heard they were goth, and i never felt anything. my mom eats Hot Pockets. shes not goth.

i think you guys are just trying to have one over on me... :fear

Dont you guys have Torids Here??????  Which pretty much carry everything Hot Topic carries and more for plus sizes ...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Torrid doesn't carry the cool clothes anymore. It's all crap.

Ive got some inside scoop on Hot "Cr"opic's new marketing layout......supposedly they are taking on a new EDGE...OHHHhhhh  designed to market after those that have been into the scene for years!  Rather....going BACK to the edgy feel they had years ago until they started marketing highschool trendy kids

So in the next few months, they are getting rid of the Care Bear, Rainbow Bright feel and bringing in the Latex and chains.  This is all happenign within the next 6 months from what I understand......cool huh?! :blink

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I heard over a year ago that they were going to get new buyers. Still haven't seen a change in merchandise.

The only Torrid I know of is at Great Lakes Crossing mall in Auburn Hills. I heard that they aren't what they used to be though. I guess it's more of a regular hipster store now--without the Hot Topic flare that it used to have.

I mean I dont really care for Hot Topic but sometimes they have cute tops and what not there.  I prefer to go out thrifting ... which I really havent got a chance to do because i really dont know where any decent Thirft are around here.  Thats what i use to do at home.  Go to thirfts and alter things that I like. =)

I received this e-mail today

Dear Ms. .........,

We have received your e mail and I wanted to respond about your

concerns with Torrid. Yes, Torrid has changed a bit and our reason was to be

more inclusive of all plus size women. We did realize though, that we

went a bit to conservative and I think if you see our Fall line you will

start to notice a bit more of an "edgy" look.

Like all great retail concepts Torrid will continue to change and grow.

We are sorry you don't love our more conservative clotting but hope you

like some of the more "edgy cool" styles we are shipping to our stores.

We really appreciate your thoughts and comments and hope you give

Torrid another chance.

Thank you,

Joe Emory

OK, I hit the Hot Pocket at Great Lakes Crossing yesterday. I had some time to kill at the mall before meeting a friend for dinner down the road. I'm always amused by the array of fairy knick knacks they carry. I ended up buying some cool vertical striped tights and a shirt. :whistling

Cool vertical stripes that sounds nifty. Sorry I missed u and Ted at the club saturday I had problems sleeping Friday from taking too much meds and didn't get proper sleep then almost od'd on Saturday. I ended up sleeping and hanging out with the cats and my wife it still was a pleasant evening minus the od I felt like i was gonna have a stroke.

GLC is the one that I got my pleather skirt at. One size too big unfortunately, so it HAS to be hiked up and worn with a belt or else it falls down when I'm dancing so I trip. But I found it on the 1/2 of clearance rack. Fifteen bucks, originally 80 or 90.

So, should we start a thread about Noir Leather too? I've been going there since it was at its first location (Seventh St.?) when I was 15. That was 17 years ago. :fear

There's a Hot Topic in Southland in Taylor. Been there a few times with my niece. Bought a belt there but found the same belt at an indoor flea market in Taylor too plus other styles so I know have 2 studded belts. Don't like their wristbands so I made my own spiked ones, I am interested in learning to work with leather more.

yea Torrid now sucks ass...too bad.

I read this thread because you called HT- Hot Pocket. I'm laughing over it, which i think is lame of me, but it's still funny :woot:
