Actually I think both of those have raised ire with the church too.

I'd be interested to see the church's 'ruling' on The Lord of the Rings, if for no other reason than so I could use to stuff up their sanctimonious asses.

EVERY kids' book deals with fantasy because that's what kids like. Whose child wants to read political books or autobiographies? Imagination is a good thing to encourage in kids, so let them go. (Hell, if you teach them to believe in fantasies maybe they'll find this 'god' business easier to swallow :innocent )

Stupid X-ian nazis when are they going to realize us heathens are here to stay. They can't censor everything they dont like ,not all of us are christian and think the things are wrong that they say are. What do they think there going to do ban the books? If they do that what else are they going to ban?

I dislike religion, especially christianity. They're always sticking their damned noses into everyone elses affairs. They even turn on their own LotR was written by a man who was very religious for chr*st sake. :nut

I should clarify something. I have no issues with Wicca or other pagan based religions. They are after all more acceptive to people and their beliefs.

Help me, my religeous preference is under persecution again....~help me~!!!! :tear

I was at the bookstores today and the employees were dressed pagan like. Guess for the release of the new HP book.

My impression is that Christians and Catholics don't like too much fantasy/imagination. Kinda like the armed forces... They worry if you think too much. :wink

"MUST......... RESIST....... LOCKING......... THINKER........ IN....... PADDED........ CELL!!"

(( ^^^^ That's what the Armed Forces think ))

"Oh dear!! Her little 8-year old boy is reading about the fight between Harry and that demon, the Basilisk again? Oh dear!! Harry Potter is bad. MMmmmmmmkay? You shouldnt read Harry potter."

(( ^^^^ That's what the Church is thinking ))

Um, can we get a reality check? It's a BOOK!! That Bible-thing is a book too. Should we not read that Bible-thing because reading is just bad now?

Careful -- the current Pope was Hitler Youth when he was a youngster, saying Nazi is biting a little close to the core... granted, that particular misfortune in the end was mandatory for younster me in Germany at the time, but it makes for very interesting fodder.

Can't say that I find the entire "Harry Potter is bad," sthick surprising, or useful to the world at large. Our current Pope was also basically the Head Questioner for the Inquisition branch of the Church - he's going to say things like this and they won't be that meaningful.

Frankly, as with anything, upbringing should generally trump fiction. Of course, if thy child isn't cut out to be Christian - nothing is going to stop her from walking away from the Chruch, though Hell should bar the way, and not sheltering from Harry Potter, nor Bewitched, nor the actual world will prevent it.

"Harry Potter erodes young christian souls..... Hitler Youth STILL OK!"

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
