Interesting article on schizophrenia

Just read this article on schizophrenia and found it really fascinating. If nothing else, it seems to indicate that the current wisdom -that schizophrenia is entirely biochemical & genetic- is inaccurate.

What are people's thoughts on this? Does this vindicate the anti-psychiatry people? Even if it does, is it a moot point since the social & family structure in Western countries is so totally different from the cultures in the study? Does this apply to other forms of mental illness like depression or bipolar disorder? Or is this totally uninteresting & irrelevant to everyone but me? :erm

That is amazing. I always thought schizophrenia was a chemical disorder and impossible to treat without drugs.

aah - I just skimmed it. Some are being treated with drugs I see, but some are not. Very interesting article!
