$0.859 per ccf. If you want the price lower... stop using so much. Natural gas prices are very much regulated by supply and demand. On the supply side there is shit loads of it. The problem is, it's easyer to store it in the ground where it's already at than in tanks. Far, far easyer. So, we only "pump" out what the demand is. This seems to sound like a way to keep the price high, but thats not actually true. See, when the price was regulated, there was little incentive to find more places to tap into it. So the supply over availible gas was always low and this made the "transport" charge higher. The net effect of de-regulation is that the "transportt" cost stays pretty much fixed and the only the actual price of the gas changes. Cold winters mean a higher demand so a higher price. Turn your thermastat down and put more clothes on.

I used a lot of natural gas heat last year to but I also got one of those free standing fireplace burners. The thing was 600 bucks but it heats 2550 square feet very easily if you keep it full of wood. For those of you in the city or apartments you’re screwed but I managed to cut my gas consumption to less then half the following months and there after. Also the thing looks sweet and I can always take pleasure in burning stuff so I win both ways. I do have to admit though that Consumer’s still gets me. I have way too many gadgets and gizmos in the house and I constantly need more PC stuff.
