torn asunder Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 role models? none - were i to act like another, how could i truly be myself? i think being true to oneself and one's beliefs is the only way to live, and while certain traits can be emulated, i see no need to pattern myself after another human being...

Like the question says, "who inspires you" can mean just someone who acts/acted in a way you find agreeable to your own self. I was going to include myself in my list, but that seemed disingenuous to the topic.

Fierce Critter Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 ...Fierce Critter and Husbandnice everyday people who are making the world a little more tolerable... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn. What a nice thing to say. I'm honored. Makes me feel like I can't be a dick on here. :innocent (And yes I did mean dick - so much more descriptive of what I mean than "bitch".) Thanks, Float. :grin
JaneDead Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 i really don't have any role models.... i have tried to think of this one before, many times, and i can't think of anyone. there have been people who definately inspire me or i think are wonderful for some reason or another. (like my grandma, 2 of my aunts, 2 of my uncles) i have a hard time having a role model though because i think of it the way that t.a. does. there are many well known/popular/celebrity types that i think are wonderful too for various things they have done but since i don't actually "know" them i am not sure how to "look up to" someone i never even met.
Aralis Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 I would have to say my Mother. My parents got divorced when I was 18 and my brother 16. My Dad just basically packed up his things and left for South Carolina. My Mom took care of us and we struggled since money was tight but my Mom made sure we never went without and she really managed the money so we got by. It was a hard time for all of us and my brother became a stoner and his attitude totally changed so my Mom had to constantly deal with his bad decisions and enforce the rules of the house. I have alot of respect for my Mother and what she has done. She has always been there for me and been nothing but a loving supportive open inded Mother and friend.

Homicidalheathen Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 My sister. When we were young she used to take allot of the abuse so I wouldn't get hurt or have to suffer.... She deals with various degrees of mental problems without drugs or drink and copes well.... In spite of her past (colorful, downtrodden) she has done quite well and makes 3k a yr now. Has a wonderful husband and family and is a very upstanding citizen. And she is beautiful. Oh and a nurse. She takes care of all of us and is always helping others....runs marathons for charity.... I think she might be an angel.
