Msterbeau Posted August 6, 2005 Author Posted August 6, 2005 I have a 2001 Toyota Celica...Just like the picture minus the spoiler and black on black. I'd like to drop an inline 6 and twin turbo chargers in there, but then I'd have to adjust the suspension, get 18" wheels, basically its a $15-20,000 job to get it the way I want. I'll probably instead just drive it until its dead. At which time, I'll buy something else. That would certainly be a unique car. You'd have to adjust a lot more then just the suspension..... :whistling Sometimes, completely off the wall engine transplants like that seem just riight for a kickass project... and sometimes the seem like ... ???????????????????????????????

Msterbeau Posted August 6, 2005 Author Posted August 6, 2005 Can he get me a deal on a tC? I've been eying one for about two months, and trying to decide if it was worth it to buy one. :grin I can always ask. What options/accessories does ya want?

Head Wreck Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 205 GTI was fun! take a 1.9GTI, remove engine, replave with 1.9 16v pugeot unit, replace box with straight toothed version. then add a supercharger, one of the guys who works with my dad (Peugeot Dealership mechanics) did that. he's currently working on a 106 converted to rear engined, with two engines on a chain driven axle. the 1.4 had been modded with a new gearbox (found on a junked citreon AX), the gear ratios were very close and evenly spaced, there was none of the problems i got going uphill when the car screamed its head off in one gear, or struggled on the next gear up. she was definatly fun to take uphill and throw around some corners as it was a bitch keeping the thing on 4 wheels (std 205's had very soft suspension, plus with my suspension mods to help with the farm tracks and short spurts cutting through woodland tracks). sometimes when somethings well behaved on the road, you loose the challenge in driving, and rely on speed kicks. i'd rather have fun than a speeding ticket. btw. meg's brothers camero... i want. minus the cticky through bonnet carberettors
Paper Hearts Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I've got a question. How come in Rally, even when the race is being held somewhere foreign, the steering wheel is on the left?
Head Wreck Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 most countries drive on your side of the road not ours, so the speacialised kit tends to be produced to sell to larger markets to qualify for entry. take Renaults V6 Clio. thier discontinuing them as thier changing the clio, and theyt solt under 400 in the UK (need to sell 500 before a car can be put forward for rallying). Clio V6 gorgeous... if i win the european lotterry i can see my new house going to be 10% living area, 90% garages for all the nice pretties. the irony is for the mostpart, aside from the odd obscure country road. i HATE driving. i hate compensating for other morons who do the occasional silly thing that may end up killing us both
Msterbeau Posted August 7, 2005 Author Posted August 7, 2005 I've got a question. How come in Rally, even when the race is being held somewhere foreign, the steering wheel is on the left? Here's a fun little fact: In classes of road racing where old British cars are allowed to run, some guys/girls purposely use a right-hand drive version in order to maximise grip. This is because most American tracks are usually run clockwise with predominantly right hand turns - Having more weight on the inboard side of the car benefits traction.
paradox Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 im in the market for low/reasnable maintinence car in the @ 2K price range. i perfer no imports/fords.
Msterbeau Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 im in the market for low/reasnable maintinence car in the @ 2K price range. i perfer no imports/fords. You like driving unreliable pieces of shit then? In that price range... I'd seriously look at a 91-96 Ford Escort. Somehow they managed to make them work well... I had a 93 wagon till I crashed it. :whistling
Soulrev Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Just so you know the real meaning of Ford.. "Fix Or Repair Daily". - Backwards - "Driver Returns On Foot" ;p
Head Wreck Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 first on rubbish dump. they had a really bad rep for reliability here. i still tell everyone to avoid thier diesels. once put a dent in a 97 ford escort after the door closed on the first catch and i pushed the door with an open palm to close it completely. :/ my opinion has been coloured by that since. that and the rotting (least not as bad as lancias) pugs rock. mainly as i get part exes so cheap (could have gotten a 306 for £50 if my dad had warned me, the yard filled up and it was sell on or pay £50 to scrap them)
Msterbeau Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 OK... Somehow I have four cars in my possesion. How did that happen? Some of them even run!!!! :woot: 2000 Ford Focus ... new daily driver 2001 Honda Odessey ... Lease expires next week 1993 Escort Wagon. Going to Charity tomorrow.. 1978 Lancia Beta Coupe... ???????????????
Homicidalheathen Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I am looking for something around 16 to 18 hundred dollars for my twins right now...I know it sucks but like a Neon or Escort. I am a chevy girl myself....

I am a chevy girl myself.... Stay away from a Neon. Escorts from 91 - 96 were pretty good (Relatively speaking - and STFU Paradox!!!! ) I could even give you a service manual for one of those.

Msterbeau Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Lancia Beta!!! damn how come you have one of those left. i thought they'd all rusted away by now. thier damn fine looking cars when restored, but shame the steel they used in them rusts worse than british fords (so much so that lancia dont bother selling here any more as they had such a bad rep for rotting away no one bought em) cousin had a delta intergrale 3-4 years back. hmmm. The Lancia's been garaged all it's life. The body is in damn nice shape for a 25 year old Italian car.... Hehhe... It still runs reasonably well.. Needs suspension bushings. I'll dig up a photo to post...
Head Wreck Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 even garaged the rotted here. mind, though living on the coast dont help. i forgot to add. if its one of the later square lighted, or monte carlo versions... EAGH let it rot. its the best thing you can do to put it out of its suffering
