The cap with the snap brim is, I believe, called a watchcap. Jon wore a leather one incessently when we first got together, and during a period of crisis in our blooming relationship, tossed it over the pier into the Atlantic ocean as a sign of him giving up old habits in favor of new growth.

on a serios note. snap brim reminds me of tilley hats. very expensive, but come with lifetime guarentee, and a hands secret pocket with a bragging sheet (A 3 note with facts and trivia bragging about the tilley)
