How do you know if your friends r true goths??

Um well the only true Goths I know of were the Ostrogoths and the Vizigoths that sacked Rome about a millenia ago... other than that no one that I know of holds the rights to what is and is not goth... If you think you are goth, then you are, if she doesn't, well that is her perspective.

Um well the only true Goths I know of were the Ostrogoths and the Vizigoths that sacked Rome about a millenia ago... other than that no one that I know of holds the rights to what is and is not goth... If you think you are goth, then you are, if she doesn't, well that is her perspective.

I say it is many things and aspects ...for some it is a mental thing ..for others a physical thing (such as wearing make up and dressing in leather ooooooo....gotta love the leather hehe )

If you beleve that you are goth then let no one deter you from that feeling. Perhaps your friend is jealous that you can express yourself in ways that she cant ?

but then again who knows....... just be who and what YOU feel you should be deep inside.... and dont let others tell ya diffrent

The people that are going to tell you that your not goth this aint goth that aint goth, just plainly don't have a clue. Simply put they are predominately trend chasers and clickers.

Wear pink, yellow or gold lamaé [not sure if I spelled that right] and call yourself goth listen to ICP, Back street boys or Ray Stevens and call your self goth.

Most important of all and its been stated "Do YOU think your goth?"

Other than being a blood decendant, that is hard to answer. I get asked all the time what a real goth is and I still have trouble givig a straight answer. Even if you are a goth by blood, that dont mean you have to be "GOTH"...

Goth comes down to personalty. Must people have goth tendacies, and when you have a lot, or have them constantly, the only thing left is to decide to be goth. Some of the most goth people I know dont consider themself goth and refuse to join the sceene.

Goths ussally like old stuff. Im medievil, I like dragons, stone castles decorated with rod iron and statues. I prefer candle lite and all black clothes(fucking colors SUX) Victorian goths like victorian style houses-DUH!!! The ones with peaks like you see on a church, they tend to like lace and frilly stuff. Im not sure exactly what renasannce goths are into, but the type of goth you are comes down to your style of cloths and the type of decrations you like.

Another thing that goths are know for is reading depressing littature(boy my spelling sux), reading and writing dark pomes. Most goths(espessaly us medievil goths) like to wallow in our own misery, we can be perfectly happy being sad. This is like a super power goths have, its one of our defining traits. We dont let life get us down, were allways down. For example, Im allmost allways pissy, and it makes people think Im an asshole till they get to know me, then when they understand me better they try to make up for being rude by being all nice and lovey dovey. That makes me even pissier, Like I wanna play kiss and makeup?

You just gotta look at the whole picture, or person. There isent one defining thing thats makes a goth. Most scenes are just fads for music or clothes, goth has stuck around because its become a lifestyle.

One a slightly diffent note, Ive even accepted these new-age goths that listen to techno(yuck) and wear bright colors(double yuck). Ive been searching for a name for them, Ive decided to call them Metro-Goths...

New Ageed sounds stupid and Retro would only work for like ten years, so from here forth, if you dress like a freak and listen to techno, your a Metro-Goth.

FYI- Medievil goths listen to metal.

Some Goths are into pissing off their parents.... while others are into Ak-47s and Sailor Moon.... (yes that is a confirmed combination of interests.... Moon Tiara Magic etc.)

Dont let it get you down if people are turds about you being a goth... and if they tell you that you are not a goth, what ever you do... dont try harder... that just makes you look silly.

My daughter is 13. She always gets the "so, are you goth or what?" I tell her to flat out say NO or "what difference does it make?" then walk away politly. Don't get angry or rude. Thats just fuel for the fire.
